This hotel is fine, and that is about the best I can say. The rooms in the hotel tower all have exterior doors that open into an open atrium ... so there can be some significant noise coming from outside your door. I had a very distant view to the ocean from the high floor I was on, but it was quite far away so I would not qualify this as an oceanview hotel. The property is pretty old, and because of the exterior doors it reminded me of the old Holiday Inns my family used to hit on the two day drive to Florida. I did not sample the restaurant, so I cannot comment on that. There is, however, a Starbucks on premise which I felt was a real benefit. The amenities seemed to be different at this Marriott -- despite being a loyal Rewards member I did not receive a newspaper in the morning. The pool area was nice enough, but nothing special. The fitness room had more than enough equipment for getting in a good workout without having to wait in line, and everything seemed to be well maintained. The hotel is directly across from Fashion Island mall for those people who want to peruse the shopping scene. My king-size bed had a sag in it that poured into the middle and the pillows were either hard or lumpy. As I said at the start ... this is an okay hotel in a decent area with rates that are fair for what you get. Set your expectations accordingly.

Hotel staff very friendly and helpful. The room was clean and comfortable. The view is outstanding of the ocean if your room faces that direction. The Terrace was nice to relax and look over the golf course and limited view of the ocean. Sam & Harry restaurant was very good for breakfast. The exterior of the building is in need of some attention. Fashion Island is awesome.

The ambience is great from the moment you walk through the front doors. Service is excellent, rooms are clean and well appointed. The terrace is a nice place to have a few drinks, in summer or winter as they have beautiful outdoor gas fires. And if you choose to work off your drinks, the hotel's fitness centre is top notch.

If you're staying in the tower wing, it's a bit of a walk from reception, but it's no big deal.

I love this hotel!

Nice but very large hotel overlooking the coast. If someone looks for a cosy place ... Wrong choice but other than that...just great. The staff is very eager to help. The restaurant with its garden terrace and the fireplaces lit in the evening invite for a sundowner.
The hotel itself is very noisy. If the room is in the main tower one will hear every noise form the fountain to the rolling suitcases dragged on the floor. The wind is blowing trough the entire tower.
The meeting rooms were freezing though...
