We decided to take a well-earned breather from holiday shopping by staying the weekend prior to Christmas at the US Hotel B & B Inn, Nevada City, CA. Our room was the Broad Street. It has a king-size four poster featherbed, toasty comforter and two french doors opening to balconies that overlook Broad Street. Even though Nevada City had just finished their "Victorian Christmas" celebration, all of the street and building decoration and ornaments were still in place. A sight to behold.
The proprietor is a joy to deal with as she is outgoing, funny and a marvelous cook. As much as we tried, we could not get her recipe for her morning corn muffins. Her bread pudding style french toast is a taste treat not to be missed.
In addition, the proprietor made dinner reservations at 2 of the local restaurants that were more than memorable and will be a "must eat at" for the future.
Cannot say enough praise about this establishment and will be making this our "home base" for future trips into the Nevada City and Grass Valley area.
