This was a recently remodeled 180 year old home. There were 16 rooms and a dining room. In addition there was a basic pool and jacuzzi in the nicely manicured and private backyard. Our room was one of the largest and most expensive, however, I did look at a smaller one that was very nice-just small. We chose this room on the 3rd floor so we wouldn't hear other people. The floors were creaky and I don't know if you would hear people above you, but I would think so. Everything was new looking and while the home was victorian style, the furnishings and decor were more "pottery barn" with a touch of victorian. I preferred this look, it was very clean and uncluttered. There are no elevators, so if you are on the 3rd floor and have lots of luggage, it can be quite a workout. Someone will bring the bags up for you if you request it. Also, the third floor has angled ceilings and my husband bumped his head a couple times. They do provide a quaint look though. They provide a nice concierge service if you need it. Our bed was very uncomfortable, so that was a dissappointment. The breakfast and evening wine and appetizer was nothing too exciting. However, we had just come from a stay at a place in Mendocino (more expensive) that was excellent in this area so we may not have a fair perspective. The inn is located in a neighborhood just a couple blocks from downtown Napa. This is a plus if you wish to have some places within walking distance. However, I would probably not stay in the town of Napa again, it is just too far from the areas we wanted to spend our days in. It would take at least 20 min to get to our first stops near Rutherford. An traffic can be bad at times. In my opinion, the best place to stay in somewhere in Yountville or between Yountville and St. Helena. Traffic is horrible on 29 near St Helena so I would stay south of there. That area is a sweet spot for great wineries and restaurants. However, we did prefer the price we paid at the White House Inn over some of the other places further north. We typically stay in luxury accomodations so this wasn't quite up to our expectations, however, the price made it enjoyable. It would be nice if they added a mini-fridge in the rooms.
