The double jacuzzi tubs at this hotel are great! These are the reason
that I've stayed here multiple times, despite other aggravations.
The folks at the desk are nice, the fresh cookies are a nice touch, and the breakfast is varied and not half bad. (Can't speak for the dinners - haven't stayed on a weeknight.)
The criticisms voiced by other reviewers are also true: the hotel is unevenly maintained, the cleanliness of upholstery/carpets/curtains is only so-so, and the housekeeping staff is incredibly noisy starting at around 10AM (and will start knocking on your door half an hour before checkout time to see if you're leaving yet).
It's quite possible to get what you pay for, at least, here; all it takes is the willingness to check out the room you're given and ask for a better one if you get one of the rooms with a ridiculously soft
bed, missing furniture, broken fridge or coffee maker, or whatever. On the whole, the rooms in the back seem to be the best bet; they tend to have more/better furniture, and things are less worn out. I think they give out the rooms in the front first, perhaps to improve the appearance of high occupancy from the street? The front rooms right next to the elevators are in the worst shape, and they always seem to offer these first. The desk staff are unsurprised and accommodating when the deficits of various rooms are pointed out. Just persist until you get a room you like, and you can expect a pleasant stay that's well worth the money.
