“Fine Value”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 December 2010

I've stayed here many times, and it has always been clean and the staff friendly and helpful. Rooms are simple, if spartan (but what are you expecting at these prices?), but hardly an issue, since I will spend most of my time asleep... So, a great value, but not a romantic getaway. If that's what you need, go elsewhere and pay 2 or 3 times as much. I also choose Motel 6 because they are pet friendly, and I usually travel with my doxie. Behind the motel is a beautiful city park where you can walk your dog (complete with dispenser of plastic bags so you can clean up after your dog).
My only disappointment was the fact that none of the other dog owners seemed aware of leash laws. This might be a reason why most places don't allow pets - they don't want to risk the liability if someone's big, sweet friendly dog knocks someone over and puts them in the hospital.

“Scenic, Convenient, CLEAN, Friendly”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 December 2010

I ALWAYS stay at Motel 6 in Morro Bay.Liz and the staff there are all very friendly and accommodating. I have NEVER had any problems with noisy neighbors or car break-ins. I feel quite at home there and they go out of their way to see that my stay is what I expected it to be. Comfy beds, wonderful housekeepers and office staff. EASY access to everywhere. If one needs info about local events and/or places, they go out of their way to help. A PLUS id my dogs are always welcome too. As a matter of fact I will be going there for a couple of weeks in Jan of 2011. I can't wait !

We made reservations for 28 people, two months ago. You'd think that'd be enough, right? We arrived en mass to find the rooms weren't ready when we got there. We went to lunch to wait, returned at 4pm to find the "rooms ready". Except when we got our room key and went to our room, the room had obviously been stayed in. We asked them to clean the room "again", only to find the housekeeper REMAKING the bed! We had to have her strip both beds again and watch her make them with clean sheets in order to stay. I wonder if that's standard procedure for all Motel 6's?

“Oh, God.”

This was the first stop on our long California road trip. We started in LA and drove up the coast until we just got tired. We had heard that Morro Bay was quite lovely so we stopped very close to the water. The closest hotel? Motel 6. Now, Joe doesn't know about the quality and magestic beauty that a Motel 6 offers as he is from Australia. Me, though? I know all too well that a Motel 6 is sub par 60% of the time, every single time.
While the location itself was gorgeous...just a quick walk from the giant rock in the bay, the hotel room itself was adequate although I only took a quick shower before bed and opted out of one the next morning because I didn't have shower slippers to wear. It was pretty disgusting. I believe I saw a blood stain on the shower curtain. blech! However, we were both too sleepy to make a fuss. Perhaps this hotel is strictly for the exhausted folks who have had a long drive--too sleepy to care.
Other than that, no one broke into the room (very thin wall and dodgy lock between us and the street where unsavory characters chilled well into the early morning hours). The next morning, the sun was shining and the ocean was gorgeous....somehow, that made up for everything. Went down the road at Ed's Cafe for a pretty good breakfast. The staff was very sweet. I would recommend it if you seriously just want to sleep and don't care about anything else.
Lots of Love,
Joe & Michelle

“A decent Motel 6”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 July 2010

Excellent location, easy to find, right off the Hwy 1. View of the Rock of Morro Bay. No excessive noise. Reasonably clean, but it is a Motel 6. Only problem was that not all the rooms have Wi-fi. You have to reserve one that has it. Also a bit pricey for a Motel 6, but I guess that reflects the price of the surrounding lodging options.
