“Being Remodeled but...”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012

Nice remodeled rooms, but there are a few problems with this hotel. Asked for 1st floor, and was told, all King beds were on second floor, not good. So, we had to lug our bags up the stairs, because there is no elevator, not good. Beautiful remodel, but they need to spend some money on soundproofing the rooms. We could hear every sound from our neighbors rooms, TV, conversations, even snoring, and bathroom noises, not good. Nice remodel, but NO space for toileties, no shelves, no cabinets. I had to bring a small table from the other room, for bathroom essentials, not good. This room had nice paint, nice furniture, nice TV, beautiful bathroom tile, mirror, shower stall, shower head, and pedestal sink, but still a few problems-- that are not good. Also, had to get keys rekeyed 3 times, very inconvienent, not sure what the problem was. Nice buffett breakfast, but it was an extra cost. If these things were fixed --- this hotel would be the perfect place to stay. But not yet

Room Tip: If you want a king bed, be prepared to ask for help.

“wonderfully relaxing”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 January 2012

This was the 8th hotel of 9 that we stayed in during a 3 week stay in California.
Arrived here after a 7 hour drive from Sequioa National Park having left there in snow on 31st May 2011!
Gorgeous gardens with such a splash of colour that is testimony to the excellent grounds maintenance staff.
Had a bay view with spectacular view of sunset by Morro Rock.
Room was perfectly clean and size was on par with other hotels we had stayed in; roomy bedroom but bathroom was small though adequate.

Customer service very good although evening meal service closed at 9pm; I suspect we were early in the season. Breakfast was full choice american style although dinner was not as special. There is a separate restaurant with beautiful decoration but it wasn't open. Would suggest this is checked out in advance.

Has its own outdoor pool which is adequately screened for residents but weather was too chilly for us to use it although others did so.

Agree with TitanicSnowdonia reviewer about the cheap touristy establishments on seafront but we had only booked for one night so this did not bother us.
We would stay here again and use it as a base to explore the surrounding countryside as we had no chance to do so this time around.

Room Tip: Ask for Bay View on 1st floor

“Unexciting but functional”

My wife and two teenage sons had the last night of our two week Californian road trip at this hotel and perhaps its unfair to compare it with hotels in Las Vegas or Palm Springs but this was the most disappointing we stayed at.

The lobby, restaurant and bar were quite nice and customer service from the staff was exemplary ( but this is a given in the US ) however the room was disappointing. We had a room facing the road, with balcony view over the pool area. The room was pretty well equipped but small and dull with a proportionately small bathroom to match.

The beach front area of Morro Bay is a bit hit and miss. Some nice establishments interspersed with cheap touristy places selling what we English would call "kiss me quick hats". I was disappointed with the beach to the south of the "Morro" as it was untidy and the water was very cold. Its also plagued by Seagulls. Interesting that they appear to be a protected species in this area, whereas in the UK they would be seen as vermin and discouraged from commercial and residential properties. The power station in this area is also a bit of an eyesore.

Anyway, if you fish or play golf then this hotel is fine for a short stay or as a base to explore the surrounding areas.

Room Tip: Bay view really adds to the experience

“Perfect setting for a wedding reception”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 January 2012

We had our wedding reception at the inn at morro bay in the morro bay room. The staff was attentive and professional. They took such good care of us and made sure everything ran extremely smooth. The food was delicious and the wait staff was perfect. We stayed in the bayview cottage and had breathtaking views of the ocean and it was one of the most romantic and beautifully appointed suites I have seen. All of our guests were treated wonderfully and had a personalized note in their room welcoming them to our wedding. The catering manager Denise was amazing, she took care to make sure we had everything we needed at all times and made the planning easy and fast. It was an amazing experience and I can't wait to return!
