“Good location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 January 2012

Stayed here for two nights in December, got a view room with a balcony for a very reasonable price. The room was clean and comfortable, the hotel is a couple of blocks and an easy walk from the Embarcadero and most restaurants and shops. The hotel was very quiet, although the HVAC wall unit was very noisy, not an issue in December but may be annoying in the summer if AC is needed. The rooms on the sides and rear of the hotel would not have much of a view. There is parking under the hotel. The management was polite and helpful, there was no sign of the complaints in other reviews, although it was off season.

Room Tip: Third floor facing the bay.

“CAUTION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 January 2012

Im not sure where to start....... Walked into the lobby and it was freezing cold, walk up to my room and noticed that there use to be 2 vending machines across from our room that were missing, and the other machine down stairs was simply a coke machine. no ice machine ! Opened the door and it was freezing in our room too! the room is not too small. I switched on the heater and it was like i started my truck in the room!! very noisy. Sat down on the bed and it felt like there was plastic under the sheets, and the pillows were as flat as pancakes! i called down to the front dest and asked for a couple more pillows, and they told me they didn't have any! I flushed the toilet and thought i was going to get sucked out into Morro bay, be careful!!!
Also the TV was straight out of the 80's

“Uncomfortable”

Rooms are freezing cold. The wall unit is loud and doesn't work that well. Bathroom only has shower stall; no bath. Pillows are ridiculOusly thin. There are plastic mattress covers on the bed that are awful. Basically we are just irritable because we've driven a lOng way to get here and it's our last night of vacation. I'd say skip this too

“Decent enough place, nothing fancy”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 January 2012

Pulling into Morro Bay and discovering to our dismay--and the dismay of the hotel proprietors--that the on-line hotel booking service we had used to book a room at another place (I won't name it here, but I'll just say it rhymes with "Hexpedia") had continued to book rooms for us and about 6 other guests long after the proprietors had called repeatedly and told them to stop because they were full, so there was no room for us, we drove around town to look for other accomodations and saw lots of "No Vacancy" signs. Driving by the Twin Dolphin Inn, we saw that their sign said there were rooms available, so we stopped in. We got what the desk clerk said was the last room, an "Ocean View" room with a king bed for $109.

It wasn't bad, but certainly nothing fancy. The room was sparsely appointed (standard budget motel furniture, bedding, and decor, 20-year-old CRT television, etc., but clean. It did have a nice daytime view, and a little balcony to enjoy it from--it was right across from Morro Rock. The only staff member we interacted with was the desk clerk, who was rather brusque, unwelcoming, and unfriendly. "Breakfast" was included, but it was worthless even by the low standards usually set in places like this--a few apples, some Cheerios, and some industrial-grade muffins that, in words of my teenage daughter, "tasted like cough syrup."

On the upside, the place was very quiet (being a comfortable distance from Highway 1 and its traffic), and generally comfortable. It wasn't memorable, but I would stay here again, though it probably wouldn't be my first choice in town.

“Decent hotel by lovely bay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 December 2011

We stayed here just one night when travelling south from San Francisco to San Diego, but would happily have stayed longer. The hotel is quite modern, comfortable and spotlessly clean. There is parking underground, and our room had a little balcony to get some fresh air. A small breakfast is served in a room with a huge TV. The manager was very helpful and ordered us a pizza from the front desk when we discovered our room phone didn't work! There were a few unfinished details like that... The wifi was quite fast. Morro Bay itself is pretty, and the inn is very near the sea/bay. We didn't eat out (see pizza ref above) but there were places nearby. Good value too, from what I remember.
