Okay, i made a mistake and somehow booked a "smoking" room here (did anyone know that strictly smoking rooms still even exist in California?). I was stuck trying to book a place that was affordable and close to the marathon that we would run the following day since we could no longer camp due to the PCH collapse. But I don't hold THAT against them. i do hold these things against them:
1. There was no receptionist, I had to wait 10 minutes before anyone came up to help me (it was 3:00p!). I even walked in and looked in their office. Nothing. Made as much noise as i could. Nothing. Couldn't get a hold of anyone. Lady was pretty rude, not apologizing for the wait, etc.
2. Caterpillars/worms EVERYWHERE outside the room, stuck on the walls, overhang, some in cocoons, others smashed by people walking around. It was really disgusting. At least clean the area around it. It was very disturbing to see so many worms around.
3. To my surprise, the room was a smoking room, but that's my fault. Smoke was VERY overpowering and we could not stay here at all. Bed was a double (90% sure) although it was stated it is a queen. Soooo many stains on the floor. Dark little room, can't believe i wasted money on this. I'd literally rather be sleeping outside in a ditch next to PCH.
3. They offered no help in rectifying my troubled situation initially. Told me that I booked through Kayak, so i'd have to speak to them. Sure, that's logical, but show some compassion and don't just tell me too bad you're on your own.
4. The owner (i assume) finally offered to roll in a machine that takes the smell out, but it was deemed "hazardous to health" if we were in there while it does its "magic"... this is not the most comforting way to say things, this can't be good for us if we come in right after you use this machine. Seriously, i don't think anything would have taken the smell out of that room.
Didn't look enough in the room to see what condition it was in, i just knew it was disgusting and we couldn't stay here. At the end of the hour of desperately seeking for another hotel room, we told them we will not be staying here. You shouldn't either. They took our money with no compassion.
