“Decent motel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 January 2012

We stayed here for a night on our way up Highway 1 to San Francisco. We turned up without anywhere to stay after a failed internet booking elsewhere, and they gave us a room at the same price (approximately $60 total (inc tax) from memory).

It is basic but comfortable. Decent bed, fairly good shower. Rooms have TV, hairdryer, coffee, and good heating. Sufficient parking, and a short drive to Lighthouse Ave for a lot of good restaurants. Staff were friendly enough. Breakfast was fairly basic but sufficient (toast, pastries, muffins, cereal, juice, tea, coffee).

No complaints for this place- it is basic, but if passing through on a road trip you don't need anything more, especially for the price we paid. We checked the rooms of two other motels on the same street as this one, and they weren't nearly as clean as the rooms here, which cemented our choice.

“Shady and gross”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 December 2011

Stay away from this place. They advertise online to bait you and then switch the room. I made a reservation online for a room with wifi, microwave, refrigerator and a fireplace. Yes, a fireplace. But what I got was a dirty room with flies and no microwave, no refrigerator and no fireplace.

I was in room 204 and it was gross. The carpets were stained and made my socks black. You could see the caked up dust in the parts of the carpet that no one vacuumed for ages such as the corner of the TV stand where it meets the wall or the corner of the room where the lamp sits. The bedspread had a yellow stain, I am pretty sure it was urine. The room I was in had horrible circulation which probably explains the flies in the room, buzzing around each other. I had to spend considerable time getting rid of them. But since there was no refrigerator and since there were probably other flies, I could not eat in that room or the lobby. Funny because they advertise for Papa John's on their keys and I really wanted that.

Also, it was pretty odd that it had a vanity mirror with bright lights for doing makeup, outside of the bathroom. And the soap in this place was really good considering how rundown and dirty the room is. I don't think your average traveler is the intended clientele.

I inquired about my room to the front and they told me that I had booked a regular room and that the fireplace rooms were all booked up despite what I bought and paid for earlier online. She said that the website made a mistake. I had to insist on a refund but all she could give me was the difference between that price and the lowest price on the website. Apparently rooms with no microwaves and no refrigerators cost the same as rooms with them.

What really makes this place a particularly shady operation is that even if I complained until they gave me a refund I would have no where to go. The places that are still available by the time you check in are a lot more expensive than they were earlier online. This place hiked the exact room range I was in by almost 50 percent more online on the day of my booking. So your choices are this horrible room or risk going out and maybe paying more for the same kind of room.

I tried to join Wyndham rewards before booking and it wouldn't work. I called the number and they are only available M-F 8 - 8.

“Not Bad”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 October 2011

Decent! we stay two nights three days. its close to the shopping malls and all the mayor streets. Highway 1 is just a few minutes away! Not bad for the price. If you need a room to sleep more than anything this is the place. Like everyone else says the walls are thin and you can hear the people on the room next door! or in the mornings when everyone is trying to leave and check out you hear everyone talking on the hallway, and it sure feels like they were next to you, no insulation? don't know but it its annoying! other than that the rooms could use some updating.

“So-so”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 October 2011

Decent for a one night stay. Had problems with the sink (wouldn't drain). Walls, floors are very thin, can hear neighbors. Continental breakfast was gone by 10 am. Checkout was 11, but maids came by knocking at 9:30. Good location and that's about it.

“Good for a one night stay”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 September 2011

For the price, this hotel was a good choice for just one night. I wouldn't stay longer than that because the walls were super thin, you could hear highway noise as well as conversations from the parking lot! The room was clean when we arrived, which was nice. However, the room could use some updating. The wallpaper was ready to peal in the bedroom area as well as the bathroom. Also, watch out for the high pressure shower head, it was painful to bathe! The breakfast was standard continental. It consisted of one type of cereal, muffins, danish, milk, orange juice, coffee, and some green looking oranges.
