We stayed on a weekend in Summer, so the price was a little higher for this sort of hotel. However, it was still a very nice stay. The rooms are a great size, clean, and comfortable. Loved the fireplace! The staff were friendly and attentive. I liked the location; we were right in the middle of everything -- downtown, wharf and cannery just a few minutes north, and carmel, highway 1 just to the south.

I got a really good deal on our room at this hotel, otherwise I probably would have stayed a little closer to the center of Monterey for their regular, advertised price. The staff were very friendly, helpful, and prompt to our needs. The air conditioner worked great, but the fridge made a clanking sound every now and then. We didn't bother saying anything because we didn't really need it and unplugged it.

I used points for this stay since I've stayed at several "Choice" Hotels. This place is old and in disrepair. The room was dark, dank and reeked of cleaning solutions. Noisy and out of town.

This was a great little hotel for us during a recent vacation to visit Big Sur, Carmel, & Monterey, CA. The hotel was not a 5-star full of amenities, but it was perfect for types like us - leaving at the crack of dawn & returning exhausted well after dinner. We had a 2-room suite which was not huge but was comfortable. The beds were comfy, the hotel was quiet, & the landscaping was fabulous. Hubby & son enjoyed the indoor pool. The breakfast room did not open until 7:30 a.m. We would have liked it earlier, but for that to be the only complaint, that wasn't a big deal at all. If you want a room of luxury with numerous amenities, this is NOT the hotel for you. If you want a comfortable room close to the Pacific Coast highway & other local attractions, this is the perfect little place.
