If you enjoy the sight and sound of waves lapping at the foot of your hotel room, we highly recommend upgrading to the "ocean view" side of the building. Our room (203) was tastefully appointed, very clean and with a great "walk-in" shower (but no tub). The view from the bay window, overlooking the bay, is simply spectacular, and worth the stay. We found service to be friendly and helpful. Plumbing is a bit noisy (we can hear when others shower around us), and it was a bit too easy to set off the fire alarm in our room when using the wood-burning fireplace (clearly our fault, though we did follow instructions). But we enjoyed how the hotel went the extra mile to make our stay enjoyable, including a "wine and cheese" happy hour between 4:30 and 6, and the complimentary continental breakfast served in your room in the morning. The hotel is ideally located on Cannery Row, close to many good restaurants, and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay here.

This hotel is just lovely. The staff is exceptionally friendly and incredibly helpful without being intrusive. We rented a corner room with the ocean under our window at high tide. It is right on Cannery Row, so you can walk to everything. I would definitely recommend for a romantic getaway. The 4 poster bed was the most romantic -- and comfortable -- bed I've ever slept in! It was so charming!! I think I am spoiled now for any other romantic weekend away. Spindrift is now the standard.

This place is a dream! I can't wait to be back. My fiancee and I were here for a few days in July. The ONLY place to stay. Beds were the most comfortable I have ever slept in. We stayed on the 4th floor overlooking the ocean, and loved falling asleep with the window open, a fire going and listening to the waves. It was romantic, and wonderful! Wine and cheese reception was great, and you can walk to everything.

We rarely get to Monterey, so we asked friends for a recommendation, and they immediately said the Spindrift Inn. They always stay there, and now we know why. It is only a couple of blocks from the Monterey Bay Aquarium, and another block or so to a beautiful walking path along the coastline. The hotel is an older building, but beautifully maintained. The rooms are so comfortable, with every amenity available. The beautiful breakfast served to our room arrived right on the dot. The water views of the bay, the sea otters and sea birds were spectacular. The fireplace did work, but since it wasn't that cold last week we only used it once. There was a lovely wine and cheese reception in the lobby in the late afternoon, which we enjoyed taking back to "our place." The only sound at night was the lapping of the waves. Dreamy.
