I've written at least 2 other reviews of this hotel in the past, however my opinion of it seems to be deteriorating.

Pros: Easy in/out parking (2 levels, located under the hotel), they now have wireless, the rooms are always clean, the comforter was a great weight and they let me check-in early.

Cons: NOISY. Each morning I woke up by a different sound. The earliest sounds were street sounds (4:30am, trucks with 'backing up' (reverse) sounds that went on for some time), but there was also a lot of noise from the housekeeping staff (talking very loudly with each other right outside my room everyday, clanging glasses, etc...approx 8:30am). I could also hear what my neighbors next door were doing and saying (verbatim, and every snore). I heard every footstep of the neighbors on the floor above me. There were a few other (smaller issue) cons, including them putting breakfast away before the scheduled time and pillows that are almost too high to use.

This hotel was extremely clean. The rooms and bathrooms were clean and sparkling. The lobby was bright and cheerful and the staff was knowledgeable of both Monterey and the local area. I would highly recommend it.

On a 14 day road trip staying in 10 different BWs, this was at the top of the list. Recently remodeled (part of the property still being renovated) Very large room with fireplace. Very clean, quiet, restful. Good breakfast. Reasonably priced. Definitly would stay here again.

I don't why this is called Best Western PLUS. It was MINUS pool, gym, laundromat and air conditioning. The walls were thin --- could hear the people in the next room and late night noisy group in the hall. Over-priced for what it offered. On the positive side, the location was convenient and covered parking was included.
