“Delightful Management and location near all sights, Whole Foods & Starbucks”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 April 2011

This hotel is in a perfect location to easily reach, Monterey's sights, Carmel and Big Sur. Manager Jigi Patel was a delight and full of helpful suggestions and insight to the area. She is also excellent at removing splitters...

Our accommodations were clean, quiet and the very best value in the area. I know, because I spent hours on line researching. While the breakfast is Spartan, what does one expect for $ 45 per night? Eggs cooked to order? LOL! They did have coffee, cereal, pastries, milk and juice. With a quick run across the steet, we added yogurt, granola and fruit for $ 3 per day from Whole Foods.

Room Tip: We loved room 212 or 112. Both away from street.

“Great Place to Stay on a Budget”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 March 2011

I was looking for a place to stay for a quick getaway and didn't want to spend too much for just one night. For well under $100, the room was large and very clean. It is located just off a main road, but I didn't find the noise to be overwhelming. It was easy to get to all of the Monterey attractions from the motel, although it was a little far to walk anywhere. The front desk staff was friendly and helpful. There were some minor issues, such as the bedspread was torn, but for the price, I cannot complain. I would definitely return again.

“Pleasant one night stay.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 February 2011

I stayed one night on a motorcycle trip following Highway 1. I had a pleasant night, so I decided to stay at the same place on the way back, 3 days later.

I got a good deal online for the first night.

Room is clean and comfy, and bath is clean, with good water pressure.
Breakfast was simple (just pastries, muffins and cereal). The breakfast room is small, can have 4 people at any time.

It's located beside Munras Ave (some night traffic), so it can be a little noisy for your taste, but I had no problems sleeping well. It's near a shopping center, but not near Monterey downtown or the ocean. If you have a car or bike it's ok, but don't expect nightlife or similar nearby.

It totally met my needs. Affordable, clean room, in good location to spend the night after visiting the Monterey Bay Aquarium and resume the motorcycle trip the following day. On the way back, it was close enough to Point Lobos Reserve, an awesome place to spend a few hours.

It also has a pool, but it was closed this time of the year.

Gigi was really nice on the phone and in person.

In brief:
If the location is ok with you (depending on your trip type and mobility), I do recommend it as a cheap B&B.

“Very Nice Stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 December 2010

We found Knights Inn very comfortable and affordable. Although the room was a little cozy, it was clean and well furnished. The price for the room was fair and reasonable given the location. The staff was very accommodating and friendly. Additionally, it was nice to have hot water/coffee and pastries in the morning.

“This was the only disappointing motel during our long vacation.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 November 2010

When we checked in, we were given a room that was already occupied! That should have been a clue, and I wish we had left right then.
There were holes in the towels and sheets, a meager breakfast that had to be carried back to the room because of lack of dining space in the office, and Leadfoot living above our room. The Sumo wrestler living upstairs was either dropping bowling balls on the floor, or there was no sound insulation between the floors.
I was dismayed to discover no stopper in the bathroom sink because my contact lens could easily have been lost. Management gave us a mesh trap, but the faulty sink was indicative of the state of the room in general.
