“We had a very pleasant experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 January 2011

My 27 yr. old son & I had come to Monterey to visit my youngest son who is stationed at the Language Institute in Monterey. I was very pleased with my room #15 upstairs. We did not notice much noise, (even though hotel was full most of the 9 days we were there), the room was very clean & beds were clean & comfortable. T.V., cable & Wiifii all worked great. It was convienient to have a fridge & microwave, especially with Whole Foods Supermarket across the street. I was saddened to see some of the bad reviews as this was not at all our experience, and my kids can attest to the fact I am usually very picky. I actually liked the decor including the "pink" walls, reminds me of Florida/beach. I found the bathroom very clean with very nice marble tile. All the staff was very courteous and helpful.

“Ok for the price!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 December 2010

The room was clean, a little outdated on decor, but the room had a fireplace!. breakfast was muffinfs w/ Orange juice. the bed was a little hard, but clean.
We were very surprised because we got the room for $40 with hotwire, very cheap! they also offer free wifi.

“Wished we had looked for better hotel”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 September 2010

The room was rundown and dingy. Tiles were taped down with duct tape. Bedding was torn and freyed. We could find no way to heat the room (with a toddler and an infant!). Asked the front desk. All they said was it was on the wall. There was nothing on the wall. Looked undown from the outside. Towels were used and thin. No ammenities except one tiny bar of soap. Reservations were made in advance but wished we had looked for a better place since there were many others close by. Would rather have payed a little more to stay in a better place.

“Worst hotel ever”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 May 2010

This is a dirty, loud hotel. I could hear the person in the next room breathe. When someone flushed teh hotel the room vibrated. The beds are as hard as wood, as are the pillows. There was dirt everywhere. Horrible experience. I have been coming to Monterey since 1989 and this is the worst hotel I have ever encountered.

“Over the top décor, but good value in Monterey.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 May 2010

The fifteenth hotel of our 4 week trip in Southwest USA.

We spent one night here at Del Monte Pines and at a rate of US$65 including tax and continental breakfast, it was good value for Monterey. Priced right, good room with décor from an era long ago, but clean, tidy and with 2 tone pink walls, burgundy bedspreads and shower cutain, individual. Our 1st floor room consisted of 2 queen beds, (comfortable enough, but springs could be heard when moving), one bedside table with lamp, tv with cable channels on drawer unit, writing desk with 1 chair and small hanging rack. Alcove with air conditioner, bench with basin, microwave, coffee maker, bar fridge under. Free wireless internet worked well. Small bathroom with shower over bath and toilet. Common balcony walkway past room and overlooking car park.

The man on check in was indifferent to his job and as we didn’t go for the free breakfast, we only had to see him again briefly when dropping the key back.

Although the location of Del Monte Pines is with other hotels/motels on busy Munras Ave, it was a quiet room and they have put in some nice plantings around the complex. There is Del Monte Shopping Centre a short walk opposite side of the street, that also has cafes and restaurants. We tried Lalla Grill which we enjoyed.

I’d stay again if the price remains right, it’s comfortable enough for a night or two.
