We just wanted to check in at the motel, because it was mentioned in one of our guide-books. as everywhere we asked if we can see the room before we pay for it. The guy in the office immediately started debating with us, telling us that this is impossible and that he doesnt trust us (we are three 26year old girls) and we would ruin the beds (?) and that there is no possibility to see it. We asked for the reason and pointed out that we were able to do that at every other motel but he still kept on saying that he doesnt trust us and that we should leave if we dont want to pay. He said we should pay the room and if we dont like it, he gives us the money back. As it was already kind of late and we drove a long way today we then agreed to so and one of my friends went to the car to get her creditcard. in the meantime the guy went to the room behind the reception and started to complain about us to his wife (?) who then came out and yelled at us that we are insulting them and should leave immediately or otherwise they call the police. We tried to explain that we just got our credit card and would stay without seeing the room but she kept yelling at us that she doesnt trust us insulting people and we should leave within a second because she wont sell anything to us. we then went to the motel next door where we found a nice room for 15 $ more. actually we should be lucky as we didnt get to know the bedbucks that are apparently living there.

BELIEVE ME !! I'm never sure of what to believe in these online Reviews because there is such disparity in opinion. I am not finicky, I just wanted a bargain place to sleep. El Padre Oaks is a NIGHTMARE with Bed Bugs. My wife and I were both bitten. I showed the management the bites and actual bugs. They shrugged it off. I have pictures and have reported them to Health Department.

DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL!! We stayed 1 night and could not get out fast enough. It is unsafe. I went to the office and checked out and asked for a credit for the charge to the 2nd day.
1st) The owner lied to me about their cancellation policy, telling me that he would not refund the second night's charge because we did not cancel 3 days before our reservation. Their cancellation policy states that if the reservation is canceled after the 3 day time limit the first night will be charged. He wanted to keep the charge for the second day. He finally agreed to refund the 2nd day after I pointed out that the electrical in the room was in violation of electrical codes and I wouldn't stay in an unsafe room.
2nd) This room and most likely all the rooms did not have grounded outlets or GFI outlets in the bathroom. Grounded outlets have the 3rd round hole for the ground prong on a plug. They have been required by electrical codes for decades. GFI outlets have the buttons to trip and reset and are required for any outlet within 12 feet of any water source. This also has been a standard code requirement for decades. Everyone has these in their homes and business. I don't know how this motel has passed fire inspection but I will be contacting the appropriate agency's about this.

The room had a problem with the toilete and we asked for another room. The clerck told us they've got no more rooms so they would return our money. We booked another room in the adjacent motel. When we asked for our money the told us they've got another room and that they would not return our money. We called the police and they lied. Worst motel in my life, ruined my vacations.
