We hadn't stayed at a Towneplace Suites before but DEFINATELY will again. This hotel looks new and first impressions are great. The check in staff were really helpful and in the lobby there is free cookies, drinks and internet. The rooms are large with good quality linens and a full kitchen (cooker, micro, dishwasher, fridge/freezer) and work space/desk, file cabinets etc. A 42" plasma and comfortable sofa complete the room. We only stayed one night but would have been happy to stay for weeks if away on business. There was a fully equipped gym (that we didn't use) and a lovely outdoor pool with wooden steamer sunbeds and red cushions (which we did). There's also a coin operated laundry.
The breakfast was 'to go' style in a bag with a carton of cereals and milk and tropicana orange juice, muffin, fruit and coffee, hot chocolate etc available. There are snacks available to buy e.g noodle snacks, soup, chocolate and crisps.
Walking distance (literally 5 minutes) to Great Mall which has loads of shops, food outlets, cinema etc

Check-in was easy and fast. Front desk staff were very personable and helpful with any of our questions with the surronding area. Room and hotel were clean and worthy of being in the Marriott family of hotels. Complimentary water in room was a nice touch. Better beds at the Courtyard and their full service hotels, not uncomfortable by any means, just not the premier bedding they have at the others. Small kitchenette and nice flat screen tv (not plasma though). Fitness center was a huge dissapointment. Small, hot, room that consisted of an outdated treadmill,cycle,an elliptical. Huge mall right next door that is supposedly an Outlet Mall but by no means is. A true Outlet Mall with great stores at reasonable prices is located in Gilroy 30 miles south on 101 if youre into that stuff.

Our main problem with the hotel is something that really is not their fault and they have no real control over. The hotel is situated right next to a railroad track. The trains that go by have to blow their horns because they come to a railroad crossing on an intersection just past the hotel. It woke up everyone in our room both times the train blew its horn in the middle of the night and I'm no light sleeper.

This issue is huge for me and would normally give this a 1 star but like I said its really nothing they have control over and their front desk staff and housekeeping are absolutely great and the rooms are impeccable.

Context: We stayed using a Marriott Point Savers Certificate. We thought it was a good deal for our points.

Good:
- Everything looks new. The exterior, the carpets, the pools, and definitely the room furnishings. A nice 40ish inch Plasma in our room with numerous cable channels. Nice desk chair. Free Internet Access.
- The suite amenities of all these properties is really nice having a full kitchen available (free bottled water on check-in). If I were staying a week for business, this would be nice.
- Staff were friendly and bill/ check-in/ check-out were uneventful.
- Pool looked average size but clean and with nice lounge chairs.

Bad
- Location isn't really near anything exciting - about 5 miles from SJC airport, which is what we really used it for.
- Continental breakfast was really basic with muffins, granola bars, coffee, and juices. We went in at 9:00 and muffins were almost all gone.
- Lobby was under construction and was located in a guest room. Not really an inconvenience, but I don't know what else they may be working on so you should call before booking.

Bottom Line:
An affordable suites type property that is recently renovated and part of the Marriott chains. I would stay here again.

Nice MARRIOTT located just on the edge of the GREAT MALL in Milpitas .. ..

TERRIFIC LOCATION with the Mall just steps away .. .. Originally an OUTLET mall (so I'm told), the magic numbers of 50-75% OFF are abundant throughout the place .. .. Lots of places to eat and see a movie as well .. ..

The VTA stop is just a short hop away as well - And, the airport is 5 minutes down the highway .. ..

The Hotel itself is typically MARRIOTT (which means terrific!) .. .. The Staff is super-nice .. .. Convenient and handy QUICK BREAKFAST and a fast Internet PC in the lobby .. ..
