“Great Location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 January 2012

Stayed on a weekend using points...the hotel is OK. The room was a little dated but not as bad as I had feared. The front desk person told me a complete renovation is coming in March/April. My room had an flat screen TV but I was told only rooms on the Club level had them. The bathroom is good size - unlike some of the older Crowne Plazas.

Lobby is nice. Neither the room nor the hallway smelled that great though.

Noise is a problem. Not only I could hear the next door neighbor somewhat, I could also hear things on the roof (I was on the top floor) rattling with the wind, it seemed.

Had breakfast in the restaurant. This offering is not too bad for a Crowne Plaza. However, the waiter's attitude is extremely poor - not a single smile to me both days I was there. The rest of the staff was great.

Pool was closed for repairs. Gym is OK and has a sauna.

The location is convenient - close to San Jose Airport (free shuttle), right next to this huge Asian shopping strip with multiple Chinese, Indian, Thai, Singapore/Malay, Muslem and Japanese restaurants, anchored by a Chinese supermarket with its own food stalls. Also an on-site Hertz rent-a-car if you want to save airport fees and rent locally.

Room Tip: Not facing the freeway and not the top floor if you want quietness.

Thank you for the detailed comments about your stay here - we really do take feedback seriously and it helps us to improve.

I am very sorry that there were noise and service issues during your stay - there is no excuse for poor service; the noise issues are currently being addressed by our maintenance staff.

The hotel is going to be renovated this year, probably more towards summer, however. I hope that you will visit us again once the renovation is complete to experience the positive changes. Of course, we would love to welcome you back any time and please reach out to the Manager on Duty if we can be of further assistance.

Best Regards,

“Pretty decent breakfast”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 January 2012

This is a pretty standard, run of the mill hotel if you're staying for business. Lots of room and a comfortable bed.
I would not recommend the cioppino at the hotel restaurant. It didn't smell right. Luckily I didn't get sick. The breakfast is pretty good with lots of choices. There's even an omelet station.
The hotel has a shuttle which comes in handy.

“Outdated hotel with paper thin walls”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 December 2011 via mobile

Stayed for four nights on business. Couldn't get to sleep due to neighbors talking (not loudly...regular conversation, but the walls have zero soundproofing, so I heard every word). Hotel restaurant is good for breakfast, bad for dinner (poor quality food, overpriced). The whole place looks stuck in 1988.

“Not a good place to stay.”

We reserved this hotel for a business trip. Since we were Gold Priority Club member, we expected our room to be the best. However, after we arrived at the hotel, we were given a room that was not supposed to be rented out to the guests. When I asked to change the room because it smells so bad, we found out the room they rented to us was the last room.

After traveling for many hours and arrived at the hotel late, we had no other choice but to stayed in this room. Instead of giving us some kinds of incentives, we were given a can of air freshner and was told to use the air freshner for the night.

When I called the hotel to complaint the next morning to exchange our room, the receptionist was very rude and said that we were informed about the bad room and we accepted the room the way it was.

After many complaints to two different manager, we were given a different room but it was not any better than the last.

Overall, the hotel is in a good location with many restaurants nearby which is true with any other locations in San Jose. However, this hotel is really outdated and old.

My husband is now back in San Jose for another business trip and he would never come back here again.
