“Love the Embassy Suites Milpitas”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 February 2012

Stayed here for a long weekend recently. You can find a few worn spots in the corners here and there in the rooms but overall, this is a great place to stay. It's about 15 minutes from downtown San Jose, my main destination for the weekend. The hotel is right off the 680 and about a 5 to 10 minute drive east from the 880.

The property is designed in a very pleasing Spanish-California architectural style with a huge open atrium. There are water features including a small waterfall and koi pond, lots of foliage and many places on the ground floor to find a nook to relax. A small library is just off the entrance lobby with lots of comfortable seats and a fireplace. The fitness center is up to date with solid equipment. The indoor pool and jacuzzi are under renovation for a few weeks.

The restaurant is excellent with a wide variety of food items. Of course, as this is an Embassy Suites, a full cooked to order breakfast is included in the room rate. In the evenings there is a manager's reception with snacks and free beverages. I'd love to see something warm offered but the mixes, cheeses and tortillas chips and salsa were adequate.

The rooms are really good-sized with a living area and bedroom separated by a bathroom with tub. There is a wetbar area with a microwave and mini refrigerator so you can whip something up in your room. There is an IHOP restaurant on the same corner as the hotel and an El Torito and Red Lobster about a mile west.

The best part of my stay was the staff - exceedingly friendly and helpful.

“Consistently great!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 January 2012

My husband and I stayed at the Embassy Suites in Milpitas on the last night of our first wedding anniversary trip to Monterey California so we could be close to the airport for our early flight the next morning. Everything was great, the staff was very friendly and helfpul (even when I called to complain that a large group of teenagers were being super noisey in the hall, they were courteous and prompt in getting the issue resolved - even if I sounded like a grouchy old lady). They even had a bottle of champagne chilling on ice in our room as a congraulations for our anniversary, a lovely touch! The rooms were well kept, very well decorated and comfortable and clean. The place completely lives up to the standard I expect from Hilton and I would definitely stay there again if I was in the area! Thanks for making our last night of vacation relaxing and easy!!

Room Tip: One thing I would note that they didn't say on their website is they do offer a shuttle service...

“Rude Staff....”

We stayed at this property for the 3rd time during the 2011 calendar year and are part of one of those traveling sports teams that tscm talked about. As a parent I keep my son under control and do not allow him to run the calls disturbing other guests. We stayed the last week of December 2011 and I recieved a call from the front desk staff. I was advised that they had my child and that he was caught running around. The only problem was that my child was in the room and had been in the room the entire night with two of his friends. I explained this to the on-duty manager who did not accept my explanation and basically called me a liar. I invited her to my room so that she could see that she did not have my child.

The on-duty manager knock on my door and I invited her in. I aksed if the three children in my room were the ones she caught running around. She looked for a few minutes and then said they were not. I expalined to her that I was not a parent that lets my child run around and I did not like being called a liar. It was after 9:00 PM and the intrusion was not wanted. She called back approximatley one hour later and offered me one night of movies for my trouble, not acceptable.

On another note, they were only serving a cooked to order breakfast which may work for some but not those on a schedule. There were lines for the food with few options to eat buffet style.

Lastly, the temperature in the room was very hot. I tried to get them to release the thermostat so that we could cool the room but had to open windows instead.

I have always enjoyed this hotel in the past. We are Hilton Honors members and go out of our way to stay at Hilton properties. We will not be returning to this location in the future.

“Three Ring Circus”

The hotel is clean and the staff courteous. However the Hilton/Embassy Suite folks have a serious problem. On the weekends the hotels turn into a free for all, with party groups and traveling sports teams. In the evenings, kids are running down the halls screaming and slamming the doors. The parents are down at the bar and the business traveler is wondering what happened to the Hilton experience. Next door to my room someone is beating on drums ! "I kid you not"

In their defense, Embassy suites recognizes the problem as they are now posting "rules of behavior" and have security guards walking the hallways. But they have to decide if they want the business traveler's patronage or that of the party crowd.

Since I travel 100,000 miles per year, I will be looking towards the Sheraton or Marriot for my lodging needs. Being woken in the middle of the night is becoming an all too oftern experience at Embassy Suites. But if your looking for a Kegger, you know where the party is !

Room Tip: Dont go on the weekends !

“Pleasant stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 January 2012

Started our summer vacation trip here for one night (mid-june). The room was sufficient for 2 adults and 4 kids. Kids were anxious to get to the pool, still had fun eventhough it was busy. Had pizza delivered to the room (extremely limited on places to eat nearby-walking) which was great. Breakfast in the morning was good and convienent so we could continue on up to Tahoe. Our only problem was finding a parking space, but that was due to a video game convention going on at the time. We've had good experiences with Embassy and would stay again if in the area.
