I was delighted that front desk wasdiligent in seeking out a nonsmoking room. I liked being on the second floor -- the room was comfortable and quiet on New Year's Eve. The bed was firm yet soft and huge. The big screen tv was a bonus and the fridge was convenient.
We went to the advertised happy hour. It was obvious that both the manager and wait staff were disappointed that we didn't eat a meal and only ate hors d'oevres but the bill was honest and inexpensive. I certainly like Heinekin at $3.00 a bottle.
On the way back to the room, I noticed that the hallway carpet was quite stained--kind of gross. I used the handrail/bannister as I wet up the stairs (sore knee). I was a bit disconcerted to feel the bannister wiggle as I moved upward. (Had it been used as some kind of movie set where the bannister collapses and the woman tumbles down the stairs?) The carpet was cleaner on the second floor and I ws glad .
Breakfast was good. I like having an occasional waffle and it was a nice was to celebrate the new year. A serve yourself Starbucks machine was a nice touch. Olivia the breakfast host was outstanding!
The complete gross out happened when I took a shower. The the tub had been washed but the showerhead wasn't re-centered. I had a couple of gallons of water on the floor before realizing what happened. Isopped up tmost of the water with the bath mat. I grabbed a washcloth to find two spots of bright red blood ---ewww! I'm not squeamish but that was too much. Fresh blood turns brown when it has been washed! I wasn't bleeding!
After that, the carpets seemed shabbier, the fountain seemed a little less clean and I had the heebie jeebies.
