“I would have given it 4 /5 but ...”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 January 2012

I was delighted that front desk wasdiligent in seeking out a nonsmoking room. I liked being on the second floor -- the room was comfortable and quiet on New Year's Eve. The bed was firm yet soft and huge. The big screen tv was a bonus and the fridge was convenient.
We went to the advertised happy hour. It was obvious that both the manager and wait staff were disappointed that we didn't eat a meal and only ate hors d'oevres but the bill was honest and inexpensive. I certainly like Heinekin at $3.00 a bottle.
On the way back to the room, I noticed that the hallway carpet was quite stained--kind of gross. I used the handrail/bannister as I wet up the stairs (sore knee). I was a bit disconcerted to feel the bannister wiggle as I moved upward. (Had it been used as some kind of movie set where the bannister collapses and the woman tumbles down the stairs?) The carpet was cleaner on the second floor and I ws glad .
Breakfast was good. I like having an occasional waffle and it was a nice was to celebrate the new year. A serve yourself Starbucks machine was a nice touch. Olivia the breakfast host was outstanding!
The complete gross out happened when I took a shower. The the tub had been washed but the showerhead wasn't re-centered. I had a couple of gallons of water on the floor before realizing what happened. Isopped up tmost of the water with the bath mat. I grabbed a washcloth to find two spots of bright red blood ---ewww! I'm not squeamish but that was too much. Fresh blood turns brown when it has been washed! I wasn't bleeding!
After that, the carpets seemed shabbier, the fountain seemed a little less clean and I had the heebie jeebies.

Room Tip: Second floor is quieter.

“Great Location but...”

The hotel is in a great location near to major freeway's in all directions and also right in the middle of a huge amount of eating places. It's also not too far from the Milpitas Great Mall so if shopping and eating is your thing then this should be great.

If you want to stay in your room after 8am then this hotel should be avoided. Housekeeping knock on the door at 8am to start cleaning. If you are not one of the early ones to be knocked on for cleaning then the noise that they make will certainly get you out of your room. I have honestly never heard anyone scream and shout so loud in a hotel corridor as the housekeeping staff did in this hotel every day. Shouting, screaming and arguing is completely unacceptable in a hotel, especially when guests have their do not disturb signs displayed.

I had the misfortune to be on the ground floor. On one of the days I was in the room a bit later than 8am the housekeeping staff decided to take their break by sitting on the ground directly beneath the window of my room. Once again the noise they made was a disgrace, shouting, screaming and laughing. What a surprise, when the break was done, my door was the first to be knocked for access.

Regards facilities, there are plenty of parking spaces and the reception is nicely decorated. The room itself is very very dark and my room was not one of the ones which had been renovated. The beds were comfortable but that was about the only good thing.

I would not stay here again, housekeeping and their antics made sure of that.

“Good for short stay-business or vacation”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 November 2011

This hotel is located near the boundary of Milpitas and San Jose. The entrance to the property was a little hard to find if not for Google's directions. Once you know where it is, you'll find it easy to get to the main roads.
Bedroom - I had a room in the main building (Spanish colonial) with a view of the hills. Clean room, comfortable bed, clean bathroom. The wi-fi was a little slow but tolerable. My only wish was that the walls could have been thicker as you can hear the showers in the next room.
Staff - friendly and efficient staff, especially in the breakfast lounge.
Parking - ample parking, non-reserved spots.
Breakfast - included in the rate. I actually think that they provided a good spread - scrambled eggs, boiled eggs, sausage, bread, cereal, make-your-own waffle, fruits, cereal and of course hot tea or coffee.
Rate - Since this is Silicon Valley, the rate went up on Monday but I think it's OK for this part of the state.
Swimming pool - outdoors, heated --I did not use it. Seems like they chose to put the pool at the back of the hotel as an afterthought.
Across the street is a shopping area with restaurants and a grocery.

Room Tip: Choose a second floor room if you can. However, there is no elevator but if you are traveling light...

“trip to milpitas”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 September 2011

The inn was nice well appointed, kinda close to where we were going, it was clean the rooms were updated besides the hard wire wifi. No hot tub but there was a semi heated pool a work out room spa and sauna. The t.v was super large so it was great to catch the 49er game on sunday. There is a resturant on site although we only ate the breakfast wich was great for a Best Western! i should know I am a employee thrugh the chain. Alfie was at the front desk and answered all of my tons of questions, he was super friendly and helpful. The only downside was there was no towels in our room and when we checked in the door was propped open as if it was not yet finished. However that would not effect my descion to stay again.

“Good hotel and decent restaurant”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 August 2011

I stayed for 3 nights in the hotel while I was attending a conference in San Jose.

The hotel is clean, well maintained and the rooms are very comfortable. The bed was comfortable and the AC worked fine. Clean well maintained bathroom and good housekeeping. Very helpful staff especially the Front Desk clerk. Try to stay in the main building with the verandah side as it has a quaint colonial/Spanish hacienda feel to it.

The hotel laundry also worked well. Wifi only works in the lobby but the wired net connection was fast. Pool looked like it was ok but not too clean so I did not use it.

The Kinara restaurant serves a decent complimentary breakfast--scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, cereal, waffles. The juice was not that good. Kinara's Indian buffet is excellent value for money $ 8+ tax and very tasty, fresh if you like Indian cuisine--it is spicy and hot. Dessert menu for lunch was limited. But the food is not greasy unlike most Chinese and Indian buffets. Their happy hour snacks were very reasonable and tasty.
