This motel is fine. We arrived around 10 p.m. and they didn't say anything ( some other motels almost screamed at us). The rooms are tiny, but it was to be expected. I think that some heavy smoker used the room before us because it smelled like a cigar despite the no-smoking policy.
We didn't use the pool in the middle of the motel but it seemed fine to me.
Anyway, Merced is a little bit in the middle of nowhere, and I think that paying around 100 bucks for a tiny - cigar smelling - room there is a little bit too much.
The free-parking is, as usual with Motel 6, big enough. Internet is not free (2.99 / 24 hours) which usual with Motel 6 as well..

We were given a good Seniors Rate, USS40 incl tax. room was basic, clean,quiet. Had no fridge, or tea/coffee making facilities though coffee was available in Reception in the mornings.

Motel is hard to find, entrance is imediately next to Carls Jr, motel sits imediately behind Carls Jr, no other entrance. It is obvious why this particular motel is only advertised on a freeway sign at about $40, you pay extra for for amenities such as a fridge and microwave, and I don't even know if you can rent a coffee maker, I doubt it. For your money, as lowest possible rate, you do how ever get a clean and comfortable room with a TV, and don't pay extra for things you may not use. I have to admit, it is a good trade off. Overall, I feel it was a good deal, and would stay there again. But, bring your own coffee ;)

I booked using the Motel 6 website, and was able to get a single room for $39, paying about $43 with taxes. Circled around a bit on V street for a while trying to find the place (it's tucked in behind a Carl's Jr) but had no trouble checking in. As a single I got one of the upstairs units - no elevator. It was budget basic but clean - bed, desk/chair, TV w/remote (HBO and several other cable channels) and bath w/tub/shower. Also had window locks and a deadbolt on the door.

In the morning had the Sunday Brunch at Marie Callendar's across the street - was par for the chain. But they don't open until about 9am on Sundays...
