“Surprisingly 1st class”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 December 2011

My first impression of the menlo park inn was, omg, I came to the wrong place as it is right on the main drag of menlo park and looks like a 1950's motel. After a night here, I'm so glad I found it! Imagine a 1950's drive in courtyard motel, tastefully updated in stucco, ample parking, fresh baked choc chip cookies on arrival, Starbucks on tap, a bed the westin chain would be proud to call their own, refrigerator, single cup keurig coffee maker with Starbucks coffee, fluffy towels, nice lighting, and a built in cell phone/iPhone/iPad charger on a nicely sized desk, and don't forget the 40" LCD tv, DVD player and free wifi. It's that good.

While the immediate neighborhood is forgettable, two blocks and you're on menlo parks main shopping street, two blocks to the Caltrain , a mile from Stanford. Couldn't be more conveniently located.

Check out Ten Fu Chinese restaurant across the street. Fresh, delicious made to order Chinese that would be at home in hong kong I know, I've been there many times.

All in all, a nice surprise in downtown menlo park, minutes from Facebook hdqts, Stanford and palo alto. I'll definitely be back.

Room Tip: Ask for a room in the back, traffic noise could be a problem closer to the street.

“Nice, clean, friendly and convenient”

The website for this hotel is a little misleading - it appears to be some kind of boutique-y hotel - and It's not! It's a really well kept, motel-style accommodation. It's well-located, right on El Camino and walking distance from Santa Cruz Blvd, which has great places to eat and shop. We stayed here over Alumni Weekend and found it a great location for visiting Stanford. Very reasonably priced for the area. The rooms are good - comfortable beds, nicely furnished. The bathrooms are a little dated plus someone put up unfortunate wallpaper in the bathroom which is already peeling in places but those are minor quibbles. The staff are very, very nice and accommodating. No complaints at all, glad we chose it.

Room Tip: We were happy our room wasn't right next to El Camino.

“Quaint and clean”

We loved staying here on a recent trip to the Palo Alto area. It was nicely maintained and very clean. The breakfast bar was simple but more than adequate for busy people on the run in the mornings. The lobby, inconsequential to some travelers, was small, but sharply decorated. The entire facility looked like the managers and other employees cared about the place and their customers. The rooms were spacious and comfortable. It's more motel than hotel, but well worth the price. Ignore the hater comments. Some people can't be satisfied.

“Good Choice for Menlo / Palo Alto"”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 August 2011

Older property, redone and well maintained. It's an old motor hotel; classic "L" shape with all room doors opening to the inside; parking on the inside of the "L." Rooms were spacious; big flat screen TV, mini-fridge, coffee maker, microwave. Large bathroom, tub / shower combo. Complimentary breakfast in the office area. Staff was helpful and courteous. About 1.5 miles from Stanford University. Very close (walking distance) to downtown Menlo Park, which has many restaurants and shops.

Room Tip: Only two floors; all rooms open to the outside. Ask for rooms farthest from the street for quietest...

This is an old motel. And not a very nice one. They have slapped a coat of pain on the lobby, bought two new chairs, and put some pictures up on their web site that were definitely not taken here. Do not, I repeat, do not be fooled.

Room Tip: Go somewhere else.
