“Please... Can I Live Here?”
In a beautiful rural setting a short walk from the sea, this lovely inn pampers you with rustic luxury and fabulous food. The room is beautifully appointed, with comfortable beds and a fireplace ready to light. There are balconies overlooking the vegetable gardens that supply some of the food that is served, with views of the ocean and the horses, donkeys, and llamas that frolic on the grounds. A giant pool, jacuzzi, and exercise room are included and available until very late at night. An easy hike brings you to the magnificent views from the cliffs overlooking the Pacific (think Big Sur). Kids will enjoy a visit with the animals. All of this is worth the trip. But then there is the food! For vegans and vegetarians, this is paradise. For omnivores, this is an awakening. The brilliant flavors and imaginative presentations rival the finest gourmet restaurants while leaving out all of the stuff that has led to illness and obesity at epidemic levels. No one here misses the animal-based foods that are so prevalent elsewhere. Every course... soup, salad, entree, dessert and the accompanying local wines make the palate sing! We departed the Stanford with mixed feelings... thrilled by the experience and saddened by having to return to the mundane world. The inn is expensive, but worth every cent. I regret that we live on the wrong coast.
