The bed and breakfast is different from the usual as it is modern and simple. No frilly things, everything from furniture, decor, to bedding are modern and warm at the same time. We wish our home would look like this. The room is very romantic, yet simplistic. Loved their pure white bedding, the toiletry they provided (Kiehl's!) and the best of all, their breakfast! Both the continental breakfast in the basket and the sit-down offerings were phenomenal. My husband did not want to leave the dining table because he wanted more of their delicious breakfast. It was like a gourmet restaurant experience.

We asked if we could borrow the thermal pot for our kayak trip, and they were happy to lend it to us. It kept my inside warm throughout the windy day.

The front garden was beautifully kept, after a walk around the coast, we would come back and sit at the porch to enjoy the garden. Everything was done and kept impeccably.
We would definitely return if we visit Mendacino again.

The Pacific View Room was as beautiful as the photos. Everything met our expectations with the exception of the cooked breakfast, which was outstanding. Would definitely recommend it.

Two minor inconveniences: the internet was down for two of the three days and the room would benefit from a ceiling fan (July).

We picked Packard House for our winter trip to Mendocino . We travel annually to this area with several couples. Our group was able to fill all four rooms at Packard House so we had the entire house to ourselves. The decor is elegant, and the atmosphere is peaceful. We really enjoyed both of the sitting rooms with their fireplaces and the soft music in the background. Just right for those gray days you get this time of year in Mendocino. The innkeeper, Steven is extremely helpful and friendly while keeping a professional demeanor. His cooking skills are evident in the wonderful breakfasts he served us. Really first rate! We are hoping that he is doing some small dinners when we return next year.

My wife and I stayed at the Packard House Bed & Breakfast for our honeymoon in October 2010 and we loved it! Due to heavy rain on the drive to Mendocino, we arrived after the normal check in hours. This was not a problem though, since I called and they left a key in a lock box for us to get in upon arrival.

When we got to our room it was just as I had hoped. While the Packard House has old style charm on the outside, it is well remodeled to a more fresh modern feel inside, rather than the floral patterned walls of many other Mendocino B & B's. The bedding in our room was luxurious, and the room had plenty of space. It did lack any sort of mini fridge, which would've been nice since we often had left overs from going out to dinner, but it was not too much of a problem.

The only really negative thing about our room was that the jetted tub was not functioning. Upon meeting the inn keeper the next day, since we checked in late our first night, he informed us that it had stopped functioning the day before we arrived and that he had a repair guy that could come in and fix it our wait till after we left, whichever we preferred. Since the repair man would have to be in our room for two to three hours to fix the tub, we opted to just do without the jets for our stay. Though this was an inconvenience it did not detract from our stay at the Packard house and I would gladly stay there again!

Lastly I shall end on a very positive note. When deciding where to stay for my wife and my honeymoon, we were a little hesitant to stay at a bed and breakfast since we honestly didn't want to have to go down to breakfast and socialize with too many people. We just wanted to enjoy eating breakfast together. The Packard House presents a solution to this, delicious breakfast baskets! Every morning we woke up to beautifully, deliciously prepared breakfast baskets, usually consisting of: 2 croissants, 2 scones, 2 freshly prepared yogurts with fruit preserves mixed in, fruit, orange juice, and coffee. We looked forward to it every morning and it was a great breakfast to start the day with!
