“Loved this place!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 October 2011

Some friends and I had a reservation at another hotel in McCloud but didn't like it. We went to the local bar/restaurant to ask for recommendations and several people there said: the Guest House. We got there but nobody was there, so called the number on the front door and within minutes the owner Alice was there showing us around. Because this was the off season, we 4 had the whole house to ourselves! The manager is a young woman named Alanna and she and her staff cooked us a wonderful breakfast every morning, asking us what each of us wanted and then actually making it for us. The rates for this great place were quite reasonable, we each paid $125/night and it was worth every penny. There are big fireplaces both upstairs and down, it almost feels like a classy lodge. And we ate out at that bar/restaurant (sorry, forgot the name) every single night. Great food and live music.

Room Tip: The rooms were pretty much the same but the 5 rooms upstairs were a bit cheaper than the ones downst...

“Glad to find a room, but they could have been more accomodating”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 August 2010

It's expensive; there is a reason all area hotels except this one were full. The expense includes breakfast. We had to leave quite early... earlier than the scheduled breakfast, which is not at all early.

It would have been gracious to have offered at least a bowl of corn flakes, or told us something we could grab ourselves, but nothing was offered. We ate a distinctly non-gourmet breakfast sitting on the concrete outside the local gas station instead, and then were on our way.

We went to bed early to be ready for our early departure. Although there is a "curfew" the owners sat with a pair of guests and partied loudly until late right under our open window.
The hosts were friendly, but definitely not thoughtful.

“fall in love under the oak tree”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 February 2010

Romantic, sweet , quiet, beautiful. We went on the dinner train and stayed in a sweet little room, Got caught up in the moment on a bench under a huge old oak tree and locked ourselves out :)the nice lady let us back in at 3am witha smile on her face. We enjoyed a delicious breakfast after watching the sun rise from our room. I would recommend this to anyone in love or who needs to fallback in love.

“Lovely place to stay!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 August 2009

This is a wonderful inn. Ken and Deborah are terrific hosts - down-to-earth, friendly, but let you enjoy your vacation quietly if you'd rather not engage in conversation. Great place to walk around the lovely town, read a book on the large porch with rocking chairs, fall asleep by the fireplace at night. Breakfast is great!!! Highly recommended at anytime of year - I have been in the fall and also the summer. The room downtstairs with the jacuzzi tub is terrific, and the room upstairs with the large tub (I'm tall - 5'9'' and could still stretch out my legs) is also very nice and has a view of Mt.Shasta. Romantic, very nice.

“Would stay there again”

We ended up booking a room there at the last minute since we decided to go on the dinner train in town. We ended up staying in the Honeymoon Suite. It isn't very big, but it has a nice large bathtub that comfortably fits two. The room was very clean and the staff were very nice. The breakfast provided wasn't gourmet, but it was good and there was lots of it. The grounds were well kept and maintained. Overall, we were very pleased with our stay and would recommend it to others.
