“Excellent”

The Ramada at Marina is nothing short of great. The hotel is very well maintained and the staff is very friendly. The room (which was a king size) was well maintained and clean. The toiletries and linen are changed daily and housekeeping does a great job of keeping the place tidy. The location may not be the greatest especially if you're visiting the Monterey Bay area since its about a 15-20 minute ride to the downtown area. However, the value is great for the money that I spent. I would recommend this hotel to anyone, if I'm in the area I will be sure to stay here again.

“Spacious rooms, decent hotel, good value”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 December 2011

The rooms were very spacious and the king room with sofa had 2 tv sets, one to watch from the bed, one to watch from the sofa. The microwave, refrigerator and coffee pot were big pluses. The bed was very comfortable, the hotel clean and welcoming. One compaint was that my room had only one chair for the little table, but there was a desk chair that could have been used so two people could sit at the table together.
Breakfasat was not extravagant, but more than adequate, with 4 cold cereals, good sweet muffins/pastry, bread, bagels and English muffins with condiments, instant oatmeal, make your own waffles, juices, coffee, milk and fresh fruit (apples and bananas when i was there). A real money saver for a family to feed the kids without paying restaurant prices. There was plenty of room to sit and eat in the breakfast area. Bring your own yogurt or other extras and keep them in the room refrigerator to supplement your breakfast or for snacking!
When I stayed, this room was not the cheapest in town or the area, but much less than some others around town (AARP rates).
Walmart super store was just down the street.
I stayed at this hotel on my way south along the California coast and liked it so well, I stayed again on the way back north. It is not far off the main road, CA-1, and close to Monterey without being in the maze of streets that made no sense to me in town. One minus was that it was necessary to drive past the hotel when arriving from the direction of CA-1 and make a U-turn somewhere to get in the driveway,or else take side streets to accomplish the same thing.
Don't be turned off by the bluish (flourescent?) light bulbs in the room...they are not exactly 'warm', but do save energy.
All in all, a good value and good place to stay.

“Decent and affordable hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 November 2011

A decent and affordable hotel which is really recommended to those who want to explore nearby cities like Montery, Carmel, Big Sur or just taking break from driving San Franicso to Los Angeles along the scenic drive as in our case. The hotel itself located almost 10 minutes drive from the highway and have ample parking space which is free. The rooms are very big and comfortable and all basic amenities provided in the room. In addition, the hotel provides complimentary breakfast. The marina beach is around 15 minutes drive and montery is about half an hours drive. Ther are some fast food restauarants , convinience stores and Gas Stations near the hotel. In the nut shell the place is pretty decent and comfortable to stay.

Room Tip: Rooms in the upper floors are better

“Better than some but the noise”

The Ramada is located close enough to Monterey to save a few bucks but you will be giving up some quiet. Located next to busy Reservation Road you will hear the constant sound of traffic all night long if you get a street room. The furnishings are also a little out dated and show some signs of wear but are clean.

“Excellent home base while touring Monterey Peninsula”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 November 2011

We booked two hotel rooms at this hotel via Expedia Vacations. The price was reasonable, the location very good, almost mid-point to various attractions of the region. We certainly recommend staying at this hotel.

The rooms are very large. We had two King rooms, and there was a pull-out couch in the room, a coffee table, micro-wave and mini-fridge.

Bathrooms are spacious, VERY clean, and towels are plentiful!

The hotel seems fairly new or maybe it's well-maintained. In any case, we found the following good points/and not so great:

1. Property is well-maintained
2. Parking is plentiful
3. Grounds, hotel, rooms and bathrooms are kept very clean
4. Management is very responsive to guest requests. For example, we had a couple of repair requests in one of the rooms, and they were attended to right away.
5. There is a little gym in the hotel, that it is useful.
6. The TV's are large, and there is a good selection of channels.
7. Walls seem to be well-insulated, as we never heard other guests.

Pet Peeves:
1. Lumpy pillows
2. Noisy A/C/ heater, situated by the window. By the way, if you are a light sleeper, request a room facing the parking lot because, while Reservation Road is quiet at night, traffic noise begins around 06:30.
3. Checking in at night, we had to wait a little while to be helped. The young man at the front desk was helping other guests. He seems to work alone in the evenings; though he was very polite.
4. Breakfast is truly "continental" with breads, cereals, muffins, waffle machine, coffee, and juices. Yogurt and even boiled eggs would be a very nice addition.

Room Tip: Ask for rooms facing the parking lot (above 1st floor) if you are a light-sleeper.
