“Very dated and not a resort”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 November 2011

This is a mom and pop motel that happens to be on a golf course. We've stayed here many times and I will NOT return. I'm tired of the dated rooms, some of which smell musty.
Great location and I have no idea about the golfing as I am not a golfer.
The people running the place are minimally helpful. We had a slight problem with our room charge and it took forever to get straightened out.
I'm done with this place.

Room Tip: Ask for a quiet room away from traffic and cable car.

“Decent Motel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 October 2011

We had a suite and it was quite large. Wet bar packed with stuff for purchase, fridge, micro, fire place, table and chairs, desk, separate dressing room with 2 sinks, and two porches that were connected with all of the other rooms. I didn't realize someone could have just walked in from our porch when I decided I wanted to sleep with the sliding door open for fresh air! The view all around is very nice and it is completely quiet in this area. Except that they started mowing grass right around the rooms at 7AM on a Sunday - what's up with that??? Couldn't that have waited until later in the day, or during the week when it is slow? By 8:30 AM they were done.

The bed was OK but the sheets were scratchy polyester (below standard) and uncomfortable pillows. The hot tub had a waterfall into it, but there is no pool. I don't think they give you any food because they expect you to buy it at the restaurant, which has pretty good food.

It is surrounded by a golf course, but it is certainly more of a motel than a resort because there are no other resort amenities. The furnishings and appointment of the room weren't new or fancy, but it was plain and nice.

You can rent horses for dune rides right across the street. On weekends in the late summer there are free concerts on the putting green, which are really nice events.

Room Tip: Different buildings have different views. A room toward Morro Rock is probably the nicest.

“"Resort" Pushes it a bit”

An OK motel with comfortable rooms and beds if a little dated. Golf course is surprisingly entertaining executive 9 holes. The attached restaurant won't win any awards but you you starve. This is a nice mom and pop sort of place.

“Absolutely Fantastic”

They have a golf course here but you don't have to play gold to stay. It is a beautiful location and wonderful rooms, spacious with Refrigerator and Microwave. Close to Morro Bay and Morrow Rock and Montana de Oro State Beach Park, as well as San Luis Obispo. And the cost is very reasonable.

Room Tip: Really, any room

“We keep coming back!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 November 2010

Our family first discovered Sea Pines about 15 years ago, and have stayed there at least 10 times since then. And no, I'm not an employee of the resort! We do play golf, and the executive length course is perfect for us.

When we first started playing and staying here, the course was lined with the pines for which it was named. Unfortunately, many of the trees succumbed to some kind of blight or insect. They have planted a lot of new trees since then.

We have always found the staff to be helpful and friendly and the buildings and grounds to be well maintained. The view of Morro Bay from the golf course is wonderful! It's kind of like a poor man's Pebble Beach. While the place may be difficult to find the first time, it is an easy drive over to Morro Bay and about 20 minutes from San Luis Obispo. We have no hesitation recommending Sea Pines.
