My wife and I spent her birthday weekend in Los Olivos at the Fess Parker Inn and had a wonderful time wine tasting around the area. We were on the 2nd floor right above the main lobby. The room was dated but rather large for today's standards. We had a fireplace, couch, and a second sink(makeup area) outside of the bathroom area. We really didn't spent much time in our room other than to sleep. Sleeping quality was great, very quiet, and the mattress and pillows were perfect and we too had breakfast included in our room rate. The restaurant downstairs (Petros) was very nice. We ate breakfast here every morning and dinner one night while on our vacation. The food was very good and the service was excellent. The bar area had a large plasma tv, and fireplace in the corner. After dinner it was nice to finish our bottle of wine watching college football, and interacting with other guest of the hotel.
Our time during the day was spent wine tasting up the Foxen trail and the final day was spent in town wine tasting. We had so much fun tasting great wines and taking in all the beautiful scenery of the area. Day One up the Foxen trail started with Firestone, Demetria(call ahead to get the gate codes), Kenneth Volk(farthest from Los Olivos, great never heard of before wines), and Riverbench(2nd farthest, built wine tasting room right in the middle of the vineyard, had picnic here). Our second day we go back up the Foxen Trail starting the day off with Zaca Mesa, Fess Parker(beautiful building), Koehler(rock solid wines), and Foxen. Our final day we drove around south to Solvang, and then started wine tasting after lunch in Los Olivos. We started off with Stolpman(great wines), Dragonette, Epiphany, Blair Fox(he's gonna be big time if not already), and Carhartt(wife love the gluten free crackers & 09' fourplay). We had so much fun getting to know these great people that love to make great wines. We will be back and hopefully soon to Fess Parker and Los Olivos. We ate dinner at Petros, Ballard Inn, and Brothers restaurant @ Mattei tavern and they were all wonderful resaurants.
