I was hesitate on booking the rooms, because it showed Reseda. But after checking on map quest it showed 2 miles from CSUN Northridge University, and 1 mile from the Hospital. I needed a place to stay while looking for an apartment around the University, so I called the hotel and spoke to the Manager Mina.... She was so pleasant and explained every detail about the hotel safety, bus schedule & Stops for the school, explained the continental breakfast, free parking and the free WI/FI. Wow! so I decided to book, I was still nervous, because I was traveling with my daughter, since we live in a small town. I was truly amazed when I walked in, the lobby and the fresh smell of the cookies was amazing. The front desk was very polite and gave me coupons for the eateries close by. When I went to the room, everything as described was included, clean and perfect. The next morning breakfast was just like the manager said.I could have paid $150 + dollars at the at the Hilton or Marriott and breakfast, WIFI and parking would not be included. SO THIS IS A DEAL OF A LIFE TIME.... I was pleased and can't wait to go back to pick up my daughter and stay at the Howard Johnson again. Thank you Mina and to all your wonderful staff.

I am currently working in North Hills, CA which is a short commute from this property. I selected this hotel based not only on it's location but also, and more importantly, because of the postive and friendly attitude of the staff I met when I first stopped by. From the "newly renovated hotel" aroma, to the excellent condition of the rooms, and the helpful expertise of everyone I have met so far on the staff, I was impressed. First actual stay was last night. My reservation was exactly the way I made it, I was given a second floor room by request, all of the furnishing in the room were like new. Great selection of channels on the flat screen television. I used the free WiFi extensively, signal strenght was excellent. Oh, and another VERY important detail, I did not smell one bit of cigarette smoke anywhere during my stay. For me, this is a huge plus and contributed to the quality of my stay. Will be returning next week! For me, I am receiving outstanding value for my lodging dollars! Thanks Everyone!!

We got a two room suite for $105/night, a very good deal. The rooms were clean and large and well lit - very pleasant. Wireless internet (free) was good, and we appreciated the free USA Today each weekday morning. The locked parking lot seems like a good idea, given the diversity of the locals. Front desk staff was very pleasant and helpful. The only downside is the rather spartan breakfast.

Short commute to Northridge (10 minutes), felt safe/secure. Plenty of gated parking, noise in the hallways was a bit annoying - replacing the room doors would help out a lot here. Business center would be nice, or at least a complimentary printer/copier. Continental breakfast needs help, no hot items unless you want tea or instant oatmeal. Would stay there again and recommend to others.
