“Great staff and location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012 via mobile

A short walk to Universal, and short distance to many of the sights makes this an excellent place to stay. The rooms are clean and functional. The staff friendly. The staff did more than you'd expect from a Sheraton.

The room I was in had a noisy neighbour and the staff went out of their way to move me. Then checked the next couple of days to be sure.

The only negative comment about the whole place was that the bar served the worst gin and tonic I've ever had anywhere. Won't take much to fix that!

I look forward to staying again next time I'm in Los Angeles.

“Great location - nice Sheraton hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 January 2012

We spent a night at Sheraton Universal after a couple days in Disneyland and our engagment! A great stay this hotel has a beautiful lobby, free internet via wireless or desktop in their Link@ setup in the lobby. Nice restaurant for breakfast, lunch, dinner and room service. Universal is about a five minute walk away so fine if the weather's fine, otherwise there is a shuttle bus that runs from Universal. I wouldn't say the walk is any farther from Sheraton than Hilton though.

We were up on the 16th floor facing north in a corner suite. Nice view and enjoyable surroundings. Clean and well presented room. The bed was amazing!! Best sleep we had had all trip.

Went for a swim the next morning but it was pouring and pool/hot tub is outside so that brought an end to that!

Perfect Starwood stay - highly recommended.

Dear ManDanny-

Thank you very much for choosing to stay in our hotel while celebrating your engagement! It was great to hear that you enjoyed your visit other than a rainstorm that ruined your pool plans. I've shared your comments with the entire team here at the hotel and we all look forward to welcoming you back again soon.

“OK for a Theme Park Hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 January 2012

Stayed for 4 nights to complete a Starwoods platinum challenge. Front desk staff very friendly but had a little trouble explaining just what the club floor rooms actually were - it was simple question but really seemed to stump the staff - was finally told the rooms were a little bigger than your standard room. Upon walking into my very small and a bit outdated room (espcially the bathroom), I felt sorry for those not staying on a club level as the room was very small so the non-club level rooms must be tiny. The television was smaller than any TV I have seen in the last three years in any hotel (travel a lot for business so I am out 1/2 of each month). The bathroom, as mentioned, could use an upgrade as well offering some new towels as the towels were very thin and frayed. To be honest, I have never stayed in a Sheraton and am comparing this to a Starwoods Westin so maybe this is not a fair comparison. After night one, thought about checking out and going up the hill the Hilton but then went to the fitness center. The fitness center is one of the best ones that I have been in a hotel outside a hotel giving you a pass to a local health club. The fitness center alone kept me at the hotel all 4 nights. Good to see that the Sheraton understands that business travellers do work out and like to have a wide variety of cardio and weights to choose from. Asked my business asscociate staying at the Hilton about their work out facilities (she is also an avid fitness person) and she was not impressed so I stayed put for the four days. The executive lounge is nothing to write home about. It is your standard lounge - did find it strange that they did not offer coffee or soda throughout the day but perhaps this is because this is more a family/tourist hotel versus a business hotel (?). Not sure I would stay here again on business. When it was booked I chose it due to the challenge and to be near my business associates staying at the Hilton.

Room Tip: If fitness matters - best fitness center around

Dear beatricepugzilla-

Thank you for your recent four-night stay in our hotel and for your loyalty as a Starwood Platinum member. Although I was pleased the Front Desk staff were friendly I was disappointed they weren't better able to explain our Club Lvel rooms and amenities. We do have several different types of rooms available on our Club Level that are larger than our standard rooms. There are also rooms on the Club Level that are the same size as our standard rooms and it sounds like this is what you received. All Club rooms also offer additional amenties in the bathroom, complimentary bottled water and access to the Club lounge. There is no excuse for the condition of the towels in your guest room. I'll remind our Housekeeping team to ensure that any towels not up to par are removed from circulation. I'm very happy that our Fitness Center "won you over" and kept you in our hotel. Guests often share similar comments and praise about our Fitness Center and the amenties available.

Again, I'm sorry that your experience didn't meet all your expectations. Please reach out to me directly prior to your next visit and I'll ensure you receive the type of experience you are accustomed to receiving at Starwood hotels.

Thank you.

“Excellent location and "Sam" for taking care of me and my daughter...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 January 2012

We went there from January 14-16. My daughter and I wanted to stay close to Universal Studios for our long weekend getaway.
I mentioned when I reserved for the room that we will be arriving late, so when we got to the reception there was Pancho forgot his last name. He seemed like he had a long day because he was in a hurry to get us checked in. I asked him if he could give us a nice view since it was our first time... he said yes yes.. when we got up to the 11th floor ... it turned out we got the freeway view.. not very nice. He spoke so fast, at 8pm.. after a long day of traveling, you cannot comprehend everything he is saying. Then I said until what time does the tram run.. he quickly replied..9 pm..
The night before I got an email from Chris Murdoch and he cc'd the other managers stating that if there is anything I need to notify them. I emailed the managers and I got a quick response from Sam. She was quick enough to take care of me and my daughter.
I have stayed at Sheraton Anaheim, Sheraton Norfolk, other Sheraton properties and I must say you have an excellent staff.. esp Sam. except for Pancho.

The other plus is the fact that the tram drops you off at the City Walk away from all the crowds. You have your own drop off spot.

The breakfast buffet was excellent as well. Breakfast staff are excellent service as well.

I highly recommend staying at Sheraton Universal.

Thank you so much to everyone and especially to Sherry "Sam"

Dear Maritez-

Thank you very much for sharing your comments and feedback from your recent stay. This morning the management team recognized Sam for her efforts and shared with her your comments. I'll make sure to also share your praise with the restaurant staff as well. My apologies that upon check-in the Front Desk staff seemed so rushed and in a hurry. I'll remind them to slow down and ensure they fully explain all the hotel features. I understand after a long day of travel it can be difficult to take it all in so quickly. It sounds like you and your daughter had a great time at Universal and enjoyed the convenience of the complimentary shuttle. Make sure to come visit us again this summer after the new Transformers ride opens at Universal Studios!

Thanks again!
