“Inexpensive place to stay before cruising”

We've stayed here twice so far when coming in early to board a cruise at the nearby World Cruise Center. The rooms aren't 'top hat' but they are clean and the folks running this place are world class! They are so accomodating, nice and bend over backwards to make your stay with them as nice as possible with transportation to the cruise port in the morning. There's a liquor store, Starbucks, fresh donuts and a couple places to eat just a few blocks away. Very convenient and the price is right for a place to sleep. Oh yes, fresh donuts and coffee in the lobby every morning. Take the Super Shuttle from the airport- $17/person. Wouldn't think of staying anywhere else!

Room Tip: Away from the busy street/sirens in front, but with the a/c going, it pretty much drowns out the str...

“Clean Room”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 January 2012

Stayed here over night (December 2011) before boarding Princess cruise ship. Room was clean...no frills. I booked online and paid around $70. Many fast food restaurants within walking distance. Free coffee and rolls in the am. Free shuttle to the pier. Ask for a room in the back, as the front of the hotel is noisy with a lot of traffic. Didn't see the pool.

Tip for those looking for liquor or snacks: There are several small liquor stores nearby that are very expensive. Save yourself some time and head further up the street to the Save Way. They have a huge selection, especially for wine and prices are very good.

“Jackhammers, No Water and No Respect”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 September 2011

We spent the night of 23 Sep 11 there in order to be fresh and clean volunteers to serve on the Lane Victory, the last remaining World War II victory ship in service. I served as a deck officer and Diane served as an AB (helm). At one in the morning the jackhammers started. At 4 am, when we arose, there was no water. Front desk explained that water would return at 0700. We would be on board the ship by that time with our 690 guests for the cruise to Catalina. I gave them 60 hours to make this incident right and called them 3 times. No one did anything to reduce their rate. I paid with AMEX Platinum and reversed the charge. They had a chance. When I have a disrespectful crewman, I sign him/her off. The Vagabond Inn has been signed off my list.

Room Tip: Make sure they have no knowledge of water being turned off or construction work being done in the mi...

“friendly staff, nice beds, but dirty carpets and pool”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 September 2011

Beds and bathroom o.k., but carpets made your feet look black after a few steps on the floor. Front desk staff friendly and heplful, e.g., when we asked for a refridgerator, because the one in the room wasn´t working. Pool was in a very bad condition when we arrived in the afternoon of Labor day. Perhaps an exception, but we never tried again, because it was really digusting the first day. Location is o.k., near many fastfood restaurants and shops.

“Perfect Spot Before Cruise”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 July 2011
5
people found this review helpful

We have stayed here twice both before Princess Cruises. We shall continue to stay here before any future cruises out of San Pedro. You can actually walk to the cruise terminal but there is no need as they provide a free shuttle.
The Manager Kazi Ahmed is very friendly and aims to please as do all the staff we have encountered.
The rooms are clean and the pool is a nice bonus.
The donuts at the free breakfast are so fresh you will want to eat more than one!
Shopping for pre cruise items are within a short walk as are many good fast food restaurants.
You will not be disappointed by your stay here!

Room Tip: We have always had a room away from the street.
