Spent a night here when I was stranded at LAX overnight. Renaissance hotels can be all over the place in terms of design and quality but this one is very good overall.
Hotel lobby is nice if a little dated, and the rooms were very nice. Phenomenally comfortable beds, and as most other reviewers have noted, the rooms are very well insulated from airport noise (and from other rooms). I slept great. The hallways are a bit tired and cheap looking - so the nice room was a pleasant surprise.
Too tired to eat elsewhere, I had dinner in the bar. The meal was fine, but horrendously overpriced for what it was. Bartender showed little interest in me or the other 2 bar patrons. Breakfast in the restaurant was excellent (great selection, good quality) but very overpriced. $17 for a cold breakfast buffet? $23 for hot buffet? REALLY? I expect pricier food at a Renaissance but I thought this place was over the top for the quality.
The concierge I worked with to coordinate getting to Orange County was excellent. She was friendly, knowledgeable, and very efficient. I was most delighted with check-in and check-out. I'm a Marriott Rewards member, and used to quick service, but my check-in was completed in less than 30 seconds (but still very friendly).
I'd stay here again for the rooms alone, and the (mostly) excellent service was a great bonus. If the food was a better value I would have been delighted.
