“Great stay for a night close to the airport”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012 via mobile

Check in was quick and easy, our room was big and very clean. Toilet was sort of a bit hard to flush and the bathroom was quite small. We liked the room decor and we took advantage of their room service menu, the food was quite good and it was very convenient for us. Parking was a bit steep- $15 for the night but we expected that. Would be happy to stay here again and would recommend to anyone needing a room close to LAX.

“DATED WITH AVERAGE CUSTOMER SERVICE”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012

I stayed at this hotel for 1 night prior to flying back to Australia. It is quite old and dated property, the barhroom is miniscule withe the bath over the shower inadequate. I wanted a shower but it kept going from cold to hot every 20 or so seconds, no consistency. There were stains on the sheets and a terrible smell in the hallways. There is one restaurant in the hotel which i did not eat at as the prices were ridiculous for what you got, considering Mc Donalds was next door for a quarter of the price. What was really dissapointing was our flight back to Australia was 11.30pm the following night, and i asked for a later checkout if possible, they said yes but for 5 extra hours it would be $69.00 plus tax, even though i prepaid the whole night for $104.00. This to me is price gouging and i think they like taking advantage of this. I had my wife and 8 year old son, what was i suppose to do, hang out at Lax for 11 hours. This was the first time at this hotel and it will certainly be my last.

Room Tip: Just dont stay, spend a little extra and stay somewhere else.

“Great 'stop over' hotel with free shuttle”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 February 2012

Concierge and staff were very friendly, room was clean and tidy.

There is a Macdonalds very close by and they can organise tours into LA - which we did and as there were only four other people on the bus it was great.

Its a long way from LA - a $50/$60 taxi ride but close enough to the airport and the free shuttle is a bonus.

Thank you for paying close attention to detail, we take pride in our brand and thought that our Holiday Inn vintage and nostalgic art work would be the perfect touch for our new remodeled guestrooms. We are glad to know you found our accommodations to be comfortable and with fresh linens, clean bathroom with fresh good sized towels. Thank you for sharing your overall hotel experience and for recommending the Holiday Inn LAX to other travelers.

“An uneasy but OK stay...”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 February 2012

Even as I write this I find it hard to describe the feeling I had staying at this property. The building is jammed between other buildings as if the owners sold off surrounding land leaving only ring of parking around the main building. Tucked behind another building, a McDonald’s, and a service station the property can be easily missed. Lighting outside the property, while adequate, is not bright.
The lobby is well lit and seems to be recently remodeled. Staff recognized me in a proper manner and upgraded me to the “Executive” floor on 11. Once you leave the lobby through the layout you sense how dated this property is. There is a lounge/bar area which seems like an afterthought. The room is disjointed and uncomfortable and must be navigated to get to the on-site restaurant. There is also a little convenience store on sight that charges double the going rates.
Moving from the lobby to the guest area was like be transported in a time portal. The guest level hallways are dimly lit and eerily quiet and you can tell doors and jambs have been repainted many times with no attention to detail. My room looked to be remodeled with vintage Holiday Inn artwork on the walls. Good sized flat screen TV, small fridge, and the newer other appointments. Internet worked well. Bed was very comfortable and the linens were fresh.
The bathroom was clean with fresh good sized towels and all the fixtures worked great. Shower had great pressure and plenty of hot water…always a plus. There is some road/airport noise but I think that is unavoidable near LAX.
Huge plus is the shuttle service which runs to LAX every 15-20 minutes, which was my main reason for staying at this property due to my very early flight.
Overall a good stay. If you are looking for a reliable shuttle, and economical rate, and not too concerned with amenities this property fits the bill.

“There are better values close to the airport”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 January 2012

We chose this place because of its proximity to LAX and the reasonable price. It is actually the farthest away among several hotels along the airport strip and , at $135 nght, there are better values. Nothing terribly wrong with the place: reception was friendly and quick, our room was reasonably sized, with a comfortable bed, a 37" flat screen TV and a view of an oddly open area out the back. The TV had been added recently and the nice artwork was placed awkwardly on the wall just beside the TV, where it must have been before the large TV was added. They had not correctly charged me for the CAA rate and it took some time to sort this little detail out (saving me all of $10).

The Radisson, which is the closest to the airport (they all are on the airport flight path, so will have the same landing noises) is about the same price.

Nice feature is that there is a trolley that serves all these airports and runs to Manhattan Beach and a couple of shopping locations at a cost of $5 each. Manhattan Beach is definitely worth a visit.
