“Exceeded My Expectations!”

I have stayed in some very fine hotels around the USA and the world. I am giving this Radisson an Excellent rating because it is excellent for what it is - a moderately priced hotel. Though it has been here for years (and years), it has recently been completely refurbished. There's a unified decoratiing theme, low-key natural colors, leaf images, etc. The furniture is unoffensively modern. They did a good job considering they were working with an old hotel. There are nice robes in the closet and granite in the very clean bathroom.

The bed was comfortable and also tastefully decorated with a white comforter. The front desk personnel were helpful and friendly. The restaurant next door, part of the hotel, "McCays" served a delicious breakfast - large portions, beautifully arranged on the plate, delicious, good service. I was so surprised to find a hotel restaurant at this location with this level of food! The lunch and dinner menus looked equally tempting.

The hotel is adjacent to the University. A branch of the USC Bookstore is located off the lobby, making it convenient to purchase a gift for your kid or yourself.

I was expecting average/bland... maybe worse, but what I found was... excellent. If you need to visit USC, why bother with going back and forth on the freeways? Stay on campus at the Radisson. It is excellent for "OK". I hope that makes sense to you :)

“Improved Radisson”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 January 2012

Came here 2 years for a campus tour and it was in need of updating. Been here about 4 times since then. I was very surprised that USC had not put more pressure on the chain to remodel, as it is the only hotel close to USC. The hotel was charging $250/night for move in week which was ridiculous for the hotel quality. The staff was always very friendly though. They have recently renovated at least some of the floors and it is MUCH better. Rooms are very nice- only a slight issue with the drains. Convenient, reasonably priced restaurant attached next door that is great for lunches and dinner and it is very comfortable with a modern atmosphere. Overall a much more positive experience now and I would recommend overnighting there.

Room Tip: Make sure it has been on a remodeled floor as I am not sure if the entire hotel has been improved or...

“A hotel in the rough”

Immediately adjacent to the USC campus, this property lacks what a hospitality department at USC could provide. Service was done with a smile but spotty at best. Don't be bashful about asking questions as they will be promptly answered even if the information wasn't volunteered. Elevators are in serious need of upgrades. I had an upgraded room but it was not worth the upgraded price. Bathrooms are very small. Internet service was superior.

Room Tip: Avoid the cost of "upgraded rooms."

“needs work”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 January 2012

We are staying here now as we move our daughter into USC housing. The room's air conditioner is very loud- we turn it off just to talk, which means that it will be a warm night- but it is quite late so we are too tired to move. Topper was calling for room service breakfast and being told we had to fill out a doorknob order form (none on the door). So we called the front desk and was told to come down and get one. Seriously.

“How employees make the difference!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 December 2011

I recently stayed at the Radisson Midtown at USC and was pleasantly surprised at the level of hospitality I received during my stay. This hotel is located directly across from the USC campus, so we didn't have to park on campus, we just walked across the street! We had issues with the water temperature and drainage but once we brought it to the attention of the front desk, Jenna apologized and along with Daniel the front desk manager, made our experience a positive one. They are true professionals who know how to respond to all guest concerns. We will continue to book at this hotel and would recommend this hotel to USC parents and family!
