I stayed at the Polamar for my 3rd time in as many years. I was in a suite - not the top suite, but the only difference is the lack of a jaquizzi in my suite type. The be is very comfortable, the high speed internet works well - and the fitness center if fine. They could use some heavier weights and a bench-press machine - but it is not large enough for all that equipment. It does have several treadmills and other aerobic machines, and they do furnish headphones and water! Great hotel for the price for sure. One thing is if you have a car don't valet park - there is plenty of parking on surrounding streets and if you get lucky you can park right outside the hotel on Wilshire. Otherwise, a hefty $30+ fee for parking will be added to your stay. This hotel is just a couple blocks from Pierce Bros. Westwood cemetery, where stars including Dean Martin, Marilyn Monroe, Burt Lancaster, Jack Lemmon, Peter Falk, Carroll O'Conner, Walter Matheau, Merv Griffin, Natalie Wood, and many more are buried!

This is a gem of a hotel in a great LA neighborhood. The rooms are well appointed and quiet. The staff was terrific, accommodating and friendly. Every employee without exception made me feel like I was at home. This particular Kimpton felt more like a high end apartment building than a hotel, which makes sense as it is surrounded by luxury apartment houses. I particularly liked the manager's afternoon wine hour and the small but hip swimming pool area. Be sure to enjoy a glass of wine by the outdoor fireplace. Members of Kimpton's frequent traveler program get a voucher for products from the minibar and free wireless Internet. Parking was a little pricey, but the valets were very attentive and prompt. Westwood is bit far from the usual tourist locations, to be sure, but the hotel is walking distance to terrific restaurants and a couple of "off the beaten path" locations. The Armand Hammer Art Collection is just a couple of blocks away. Also within very easy walking distance is Westwood Memorial Park, where Marilyn Monroe rests in a rose colored crypt.

This was the perfect weekend getaway-- even for someone who lives in LA! Our Vista Suite was absolutely beautiful with the biggest jacuzzi bath I could have dreamed of. The view was unreal, the staff was lovely, and when one of us wasn't feeling well in the middle of the night we were even able to ask for a humidifier to be delivered to the room.

The location is definitely walking distance to Westwood Village, but it's a bit of a trek. Also, if you're planning on bringing a car, be aware that overnight parking is $30 (per night), but the attendants at the valet were very helpful in recommendations of where to find street parking in the neighborhood.

Also, GO WITH THE RECOMMENDATIONS given at the restaurant! I was hesitant about the banana tarts but now I dream of them...

Stayed in this hotel because of it's close proximity to UCLA. We were given a room on the 19th floor with a spectacular view. The beds were very comfortable and the room was clean. Loved the wonderful shower head and the fashionable fixtures in the bathroom. The hour long "free wine" in the lobby was a great way to cap off a busy day. Very "boutiquey" and modern lobby had a lounge feel. Staff was friendly and extremely accomodating. Would stay here again.
