The lobby will deceive you when checking in because it's very nice.
Sure, this place is historic with wonderful old Hollywood detailing, but once I set foot off the elevator to my floor the place became a run down, dirty, dingy, stinky, outdated, filthy, disgusting, musty old mess.
I felt completely unsafe here. The first room on the 11th floor was really, really, really, really bad so I asked for a "better" room. The guy at the front desk then changed me to a room on the 14th floor and it was only just "really bad."
Both rooms had stains on the carpet, dust on the fixtures, and the aura of doom. My instincts told me to check out. I didn't even want to stay long enough to take pictures. Just trust me on this one.
The cab driver who took me to a Marriott around the corner stated that most of the occupants actually "live" at this hotel.
