I travel to LA for business and my first choice for hotel is always Hotel Roosevelt.

For years I've been staying here and every time I enjoy the hotel. With some oversized room and great ambiance, this is truely the hotel for me.

i travel to LA from NY at least twice a year and always stay at the hollywood roosevelt hotel. first of all, the location is great. the hotel is right on hollywood boulevard, almost directly across from graumann's chinese theater. automobile entrance is around the back, and the valets are fantastic. the hotel has so much history, and i'm fascinated with hollywood in the early days of cinema. the hotel hosted the first academy awards, and the ghosts of marilyn monroe and montgomery clift are said to wander the hotel (personally i haven't seen them). the pool area at the roosevelt is excellent - the pool is gorgeous, and the bar/restaurant next to the pool is great! the rooms are really nice and the beds are extremely comfortable. i suggest upgrading to a studio suite if they're available. the roosevelt does not leave out details either - they even have kiehl's products in the bathroom! the entire staff is so friendly and you'll really feel like you're part of hollywood/cinema history when you stay here. i can't recommend it enough!

I was told I would be staying at the Hotel Roosevelt, and I immediately checked TripAdvisor to see the reviews. After reading, I was a bit anxious mainly because the majority complain about noise into the late hours of the night.

When we got to the hotel, we found it was located directly across the street from the Chinese theatre. There were hundreds of touristy restaurants that you could walk to to get a drink or a bite to eat. Starbucks directly across the street.
Inside the hotel is 5 different restaurant/bars to choose from.

Valet charges $35 to the room. Really no alternative options.
It is a bit weird when you first check in you have to go down 3 or 4 stairs with your luggage. The valet guys try to help but it makes it more awkward.

After check in, I went to the elevators (half expecting them to not work from all the reviews) and both elevators seemed to be working fine.

My room was older, but in renovated condition. A firm bed and decent bathroom. On the tv was a live feed outside at the Chinese theatre. $5 Fiji bottles of water are strategically placed around the room.

I read a bit on the history of the hotel (celebrities that visited like Marilyn Monroe, etc. Stories of certain floors being haunted) and it is easy to start to like this place.

I needed to print some documents for a meeting. The lobby has two free internet ($15 in the room) kiosks with a printer attached. I printed a 50 page document and no one blinked an eye...they actually offered me a stapler.

At night I fell asleep and didnt hear a peep the entire night. Not even a door slamming shut. It was a Tuesday night, so maybe the bad reviews are only on the weekends, but this was a pleasant surprise.

I travel quite a bit for work, as well as for pleasure, and I have a pretty good idea of typical hotel rooms in different cities, and I do have to say this room was on the smaller side of what I am used to getting while in LA, BUT the history of this hotel, as well as the fun decor make up for it.

I really didn't have much interaction with the staff, so I can't say much on how they are, but the room was clean, I was checked in quickly and had no complaints. For whatever reason, even though it was dated, I liked the bathroom in my room, and also appreciated the art work on the walls.

Location was good if you are looking to explore the more touristy areas of LA, and the main lobby area is cool to just sit back, have a drink and get comfortable.

If you want to stay in someplace rich in Hollywood history, hang out with the hipsters then this is a good choice in hotels for you.
