Needed a hotel close to a taping of a Dr. Phil show. We chose this hotel based on the photo's on the internet. When we checked in and got to the room much to our surprise it was very run down the paint was peeling off the walls of the bathroom. The shower door rail was rusty and hard to close. The shower head was so short that I had to bend down and backwards just to get wet. One of the lamps did not work, asked for an early wake up call which never came. Thank God we had a small alarm clock with us. The TV only had a handful of channels most were in Spanish. Needed an iron the front desk they did supply one but did not work to well. This is a no frills hotel. Stay at your own risk.

Booked this one for proximity and price based on lonely planet guide.On first view it looked basic and slightly run down.However although showing its age it was clean and tidy.Bedrooms were small and bedding clean but typical horrid motel style.Bathroom was worn and small, shower pretty rubbish but worked just. Shower doors totally past sell by date .Car parking inside free and close to rooms a bonus!! and we had no problems with getting about from this location.Underground train is just a block away and easy to find.Attached cafe is fine with good service and friendly staff.For price v location I suspect this as good as it gets for $78 for a twin double..

I needed to stay an extra night in LA and dropped by this motel whilst driving past. I thought it was a good deal for $78. The room was comfortable with a good quality bed; the bathroom a bit dated but most importantly very clean. I get very picky when it comes to cleanliness. The retaurant served a good breakfast and you get a discount as a hotel resident. Free parking right outside the room is a bonus. Having read the reviews of the cheaper hotels in the hollywood area I was a bit doubtful about finding a nice enough place, but I was very happy with Dunes and would stay again.
