This hotel/apartment/hostel appears to be built in the 1920's. The building has a lot of character, however the hotel rooms are on the cheaper side. I spent a week on the 5th floor, in a huge room with a walk-in closet. The hotel rooms are very clean, the staff is very nice. There are mostly artistic type of people living in the building along with a few older people. I did not see one cockroach, drug dealer, or pimp the whole time I stayed, and I had all kinds of food out on the table, in a cooler, etc. Other than the fact they didn't have ice, or phones in the rooms it was a great deal- they don't have the fancy stuff at hotels you pay for, i.e. HBO. But it is in a great location- blocks to all of the major network studios, recording studios, shops, attractions- It is two blocks south of Griffith Park, across the street from grocery stores, shops, mini mall. I would recommend this hotel to anyone staying on a budget.
