“Suited our needs, as tourists..”

We were trying to book a place in L.A. online and as most travellers/backpackers will know, when travelling to several destinations (on a budget) it is often very hard to find a place that is safe, comfortable and affordable. I do not have high expectations as in my view i am there to see the city. We had some bad experiences with other places being falsely advertised or in bad neighborhoods with little assistance for staff sitting happily behind a desk.

Here however, it ticked our boxes. YES- they do have shared bathrooms. I was NOT keen on this but we were running low on money and it was towards the end of a very long journey so the price was the most important factor. Even though i had been nervous, we actually had a great experience. They gave us a room on a quiet floor down a quiet corridor meaning i dont think anyone else actually used the bathroom that was consistantly clean.

Also, as many have mentioned, the entrance and lobby are beautiful, though it doesnt reflect the rooms, it is a very nice welcome and very comfortable if you are down waiting for your laundry to finish, the laundry is very reasonably priced too. They also have free wifi. Our room itself was just a double bed and a sink, with a bedside locker, lamp, approx. 36 inch tv (not flat screen but what-evs) and some dresser drawers. Staff were friendly enough to us and helped us when we had problems or questions and have leaflets on everything.

This is NOT a 4 or 5 star hotel but if you are considering it then i presume you are on a budget like we were. the price for us could not be beaten and though the area of LA itself is not 100% safe, it is close to transport and we as two 21 year old girls didnt have an issue. Maybe we're just brave though. :) Hope i've been of some help because surprisingly, even just to save a few bob, i would stay again.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on a less occupied corridor and i believe some rooms have quite decent views.

“If you want cheap get this.”

We had a room with our own bathroom which was the only plus.
There is no AC and it was hot in LA, so that didn't help in a good night's sleep.
There is a fan on the ceiling which provides some 'cool' air.
The room is small with only the basic thinks like a sink and some place to put your bags.
The shower and toilet work, and that's it.
It looked clean but not nice or welcome.

If you're on a budget and can handle it being 90 or more degrees in the room then this might be for you, otherwise find yourself something else.

You can park your car in the parking garage next door which costs you about $15 a day.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with AC on a hot day, if there are any.

“It was ok!”

Well i went to Cecil hotel on the 15th September i stayed there for 6 nights!. It was in a good part of downtown!. My room was big just for one person!. I never had a shower in my room just a sink!!.
When it comes to the shared showers on the 14th floor you have a toilet in there too but with no sink!. The bed was kind of hard but you get used to it if your staying there for a long time!. The only down point about it is you hear sirens going off every night!.
Pershing Square the metro line was just 15mins away from the hotel which was good if you don't want to stay Downtown that much!. There isn't a 24 hour security guard he gets to the hotel at 6pm and then leaves in the morning!. It was not a rough part of downtown just make sure you don't end up going to Skid row!
Overall it was a good hotel apart from i had a few little things stolen!. So yeah it was a good hotel. Nice people work there! and i saw on one of the pics of this hotel room with no plug sockets!. There are plug sockets haha. I'll probs stay here again!
