“Pretty Standard”

Spent a night here for a work trip. The hotel is in the less desirable downtown LA area, not super close to much, but in an up and coming area that soon enough will probably be full of life. Room was nice, everything is low - bed and TV. Bathroom has a peep through glass wall that would not work if you are sharing the room with anyone other than your significant other. Shower is huge, but has a basic shower head.

Was able to check in early, which was a plus on this work trip. Check-in was friendly. Food in hotel lobby restaurant was above average for hotel food. Elevators were slow. Hotel turns into a club after dark, so it could be off putting for some, but I heard no noise.

Overall pretty standard stay - would stay again if work was picking up the tab.

Room Tip: High floor.

“its just OK,... not fancy... Staff?... mmmmmm”

Its begging for a LOBBY MAKEOVER for sure!
The building is beautiful OUTSIDE...white carrara marble... super nice... Rooms are cool and spacious and the tub is cool! Staff is nice EXCEPT the beyond RUDE puerto rican jersey shore looking bold bar tender at the rooftop. He totally does NOT belong working in hospitality at all! He should not have contact with people! A total disappointing experience. He got offended because he made me a WRONG gimlet! He was super rude when I mentioned to him he had made a mistake on the ingredients of my drink; He thew the drink in a terrible RUDE manner! Extremely Beyond description inappropriate!
The hotel is totally different from the Standard in Miami Beach... TOTALLY.... but it is still in a great location, ok priced and the rooms are nice. Just be careful with the rude rooftop staff.

“Many a crazy night at the Standard”

Every year we go to LA for work in May.
Every year we end up visiting the Standard for at least one big night. Staying there is just as memorable. This is definitely no the place to stay for work unless you're in a crazy industry but if you're in the mood for fun in an usual environment while staying near the convention centre then GO! Enjoy.

“Beyond a Standard Experience”

First thing - not for first travel experience together as a couple unless a glass-walled shower open to the bedroom works for you in the early stages - just saying!

Breakfast is excellent in the 24hr restaurant, rooftop bar is somewhat overrated and past it's cool phase. Overall cool, but showing a little 'age'

“Good times”

Ive stayed at both of the LA Standards and this is by far the best. The minimalist layout of the rooms is great. Beds are comfortable and the see thru showers are a cool touch though you'll not have a lot of privacy in the bathroom if you're there with a guest. The rooftop pool/bar is really cool except for the crowd. Just enjoy the view and surroundings and ignore the typically douchey people all around. Try not to stay on the 12th floor as it tends to get quite noisy from the bar and from the parties. Be prepared for the parking situation, way overpriced valet and parking but in downtown LA its pretty much the norm.

Room Tip: Avoid the 12th floor rooms
