“Hotel was Okay”

I stayed 3nights at this hotel. The lobby was being renovating, and also the gym.The staff was very friendly...I was upset with the cable channel line up..Not enough channels for me...The spa/sauna rooms looked very peaceful. Unfortunately I did not have time for a massage. I suggest to pay extra for the 24hr valet service. Hotel is in little Tokyo, there are plenty of Japanese/Korean restaurants to choose from. My room was basic, I loved the toilet & the bed was extremely comfy......The view of LA skyline was beautiful. The LARGE WINDOW OPENS!!!!!!!! (no sceen, no bars))This is very important, especially if traveling with children.Make sure it's locked.... I did not eat at restaurant, but I bought breakfast at the lobby cafe. I do not think I would stay again.

“Wish I was there now!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 January 2012

Location, Location, Location! Right in the heart of the only place I like in all of Los Angeles, Little Tokyo! The Miyako is affordable by L.A. standards and is clean, comfortable & more than convenient if you're there to enjoy the most authentic slice of Japan outside of Tokyo. Give yourself a real treat and stay New Year's Eve and New Year's Day. NYE is a ghost town but NYD is full of excitement with a traditional Japanese Taiko concert, colorful costumes and lots of good cheer :)

“Great location for access to Gold Line Light Rail, but . . .”

The executive King room was adequate, but this suite was very small. Upon arrival, I called the front desk to inquire about upgrading to a larger room and was informed that we were in their largest suite. The sitting chair was crammed between the bed and the window wall. The room was clean and the bathroom was better than average. It had decent aesthetics, but it was not upscale in any way. I appreciated the large flat screen TV. The room had a small refrigerator, coffee maker and safe. We had breakfast at the Kyoto Grand Hotel, which was about a block away. Wished we had stayed their instead, as it was a larger property with the upscale amenities that I was hoping for. The Miyako LA seemed geared for buisness travel.

“Always Pleasing”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 December 2011

This was our third stay at the Miyako, and the hotel and staff continue to offer a pleasant experience. We originally chose Miyako because it's close to Union Station, but we continue to return because it's comfortable, very clean, and the staff is outstanding. Everyone at the hotel is friendly and helpful, the neighborhood offers many excellent restaurants and interesting shops, and the location, just off downtown Los Angeles (yes, LA does have a downtown), is convenient to almost everything via light rail Metro. We have yet to try the hotel's breakfast buffet, but the "Take 5" cafe in the lobby offers a fine continental breakfast with yogurt and delicious croissants. a great place to people watch and plan your day.

“Love the Miyako”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 December 2011

In the heart of Little Tokyo, the Miyako offers a perfect blend of culture, convenience, comfort, and cuisine. The beds are super comfortable, the rooms quiet and clean, hotel staff friendly, and the Japanese breakfast is a treat. MOCA Geffen and the Japanese American National Museum are across the street and the Japanese Village with great shops and restaurants is just a few steps away. I get to stay here when I am in Los Angeles for business and would not want to stay anywhere else.
