“what was expected, and a little more!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 January 2012

I had a difficult time choosing between hotels in Marina Del Rey for attending a memorial, but I gave up the ocean view options when I ran into this place. The breakfast, 90s colorful rooms and cute European courtyard had me book pretty much as soon as I saw all of it. I stayed with my parents, and they were very happy with it as well. It really helped that the lady who checked us in made sure we got the room we wanted- that made such a difference with my dad, who started with disliking the hotel to not wanting to leave! Thanks for the service!

Room Tip: Courtyard rooms during the winter have both a nice view and a quiet setting!

“very nice, nice location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 January 2012

A good choice. We were on vacation with 2 teenagers, and reserved a suite with a kitchen, a queen bed in a loft, plus a sofa bed. The room was kind of cramped, but to be expected when holding 4 full size people. (It would have been spacious for 2.) Everything else was outstanding - close to the beach, nice facilities and rooms, very courteous and attentive staff, quite decent breakfast. Cute internal courtyard for breakfasting. Would definitely not hesitate to try this place. They do charge $7/day parking.

“Good location at the nicer end of Venice Beach”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 January 2012

We stayed here for 5 nights in January, as we wanted to be near the coast, and needed a place with parking. We really enjoyed our time here. It is at the southern end of venice beach, and only a block away from the water (a LOT of hotels in the area are several km away from the beach). It is on the same street as venice fishing pier. Just north of the marina, and at the southern end of the canals. The action end of Venice Boulevard is at the northern end- close enough to walk to, but able to escape from by coming back to the nicer southern end. (Venice boulevard is not a place where you want to be staying right in the middle of all the action).

There are plenty of places to eat dinner nearby, from Japanese to Italian to Mexican to bars. Prices were pretty good at all of these places. No laundry on site, and no coin laundry nearby, but there is a cleaners a couple of blocks up the road. Parking on site is plentiful, but costs $7 per day (from memory).

Breakfast is great with a lot of variety, held in the pretty courtyard on the first floor. Cleaning is good and rooms are very spacious (we had a rollaway bed for the third person and still had a heap of space to move around the room. Rollaway bed was surprisingly sturdy and good quality). Sometimes street noise can carry through the windows if you are on the Washington Blvd side. Wifi is fast and always worked well while we were there. Staff were always very friendly on the front desk.

There is a small fitness centre on site which you can use, or you can walk/run along Venice boulevard (better in the mornings before it gets crowded).

I would definitely stay here again when we return to LA at the end of our trip. We booked last minute so prices were a little better, but overall the rates are reasonable, especially for LA. In terms of location this is a great area as parking is plentiful and you can walk around easily at night, and a much nicer atmosphere than Hollywood or Beverley Hills. I prefer Santa Monica but as the hotels there are not in my budget, Venice was an excellent alternative; this hotel has the best location in Venice in proximity to the beach, canals, marina and plenty of eating and drinking options.

“Pricey but good location and comfortable”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 January 2012 via mobile

This is an average hotel in a great location so I guess they can justify the prices. The rooms were unremarkable but clean. Good continental breakfast, nice courtyard and within waing distance to piers, beach, shopping and restaurants.

“Big, spacious rooms, beautiful courtyard”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 January 2012

Writing this review is making me miss Venice beach ALOT. Hotel was about $170 a night and we stayed 3 nights at the end of our 3 week trip round California, Nevade and Arizona. So glad this was our last hotel as it was beautiful and only 2 minute walk from the beach. The breakfast was great, in the centre of the hotel was a lovely courtyard where you could eat your breakfast outside. We had a balcony whish was lovely to have open in the morning. Although it was foggy and miserable most days (it was October), Venice Beach still had a superb atmosphere and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Only thing I would say is that they do charge you for parking.
ALSO, the staff told us not to drive to Los Angeles/Hollywood due to traffic and expensive parking, and that they do bus trips there (I rmeber it being quite expensive), But me and my boyfriend took the chance and drove, parking was only $10 for the 24hrs in a multi storey just off Sunset Boulevard and it only took 20 mins to drive there and 20 minutes back. Traffic really isn't that bad in Los Angeles.
