“Nice Views”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 October 2011

This was a nice surprise to find in Downtown Long Beach. We had a harbor view room facing the shoreline and it was spectacular. The facility is new and modern and the room was quite large. Freeway access was very convenient, but parking was difficult and tight in the parking lot.
It is close by to the Queen Mary, the Aquarium and the revitalized Pike area filled with entertainment and restaurants. The free breakfast buffet was typical - but hard to enjoy since it was very crowded and didn't have a good definition of where the line began for the hot items.

Room Tip: The corner room was huge!

“Nice New Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 October 2011

I was on the 8th floor on the side with the boat ramps. The room was large and clean. The bed very comfortable, lots of pillows. I could hear the boats running but it wasn't loud and only when the room was quiet. I was comfortable and would stay again. The breakfast was good also, hot buffet of eggs, waffle makers, pastries, juices. Had great views from both sides. Some of the reviews mentioned a musty or gasoline smell. I didn't notice and I was looking for it. Room 813 had no smell.

Room Tip: The harbor side is probably quieter. They are away from the boat ramp.

“Lovely views -”

Had not been to Long Beach for several years, & was very impressed with the downtown. Residence Inn is across the bridge from downtown (5 minutes), but the views make up for it. Typical Residence Inn, but appears to have been recently updated & everything was in fine working order & spotlessly clean.Lovely & bright breakfast area, & lobby overlooking pool, which offers wonderful views at sunset, & back to the city skyline.

Room Tip: Ask for "even numbered" rooms on upper floors. Great views out over the harbor all the way...

“Nice hotel for families!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 September 2011

We were in town attending a family member's wedding. The hotel was well equipped for our family and within a great area. We were able to find stores like CVS and restaurants within 15 miles of the hotel.

One precaution, I was not aware that this hotel was an animal friendly facility. There were many dog owners that met us in the lobby and elevators with and without leashes. The dogs were all well mannered and remained under control. My concern was that 2 of our children are asthmatic and allergic to dog and cat dander. We were blessed not to have had any health issues come up while there, but the possibility was possible. I will admit, if I hadn't seen the dogs inside the hotel, I would not have know they were allowed. Our room and lobby was definitely free of animal hair.

Overall, a great stay and experience!

“At least the room was nice...”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 September 2011

I had a business conference from 9/9-9/11. As I walked into the hotel, I saw Dexter, Michael C Hall, and figured, heck this may turn out to be a good weekend. Hotel front staff took a while to check me in...computer problems, eh, I'm understanding, it happens. I checked into my room, the rooms are rather well equipped (fridge, tv, desk, couch, etc), ran into a few friends in the hallway and proceeded to the elevator. Well, the elevator maintenance company had ran diagnostics earlier that day...so the elevator should work right? The elevator broke, midway between the 5th and 4th floor...and we stayed there for over an hour...fun. Let me tell you, the elevators...total fire hazards! No release hatch or anything to secure a safe exit if something were to happen. A colleague of mine left her laptop in the conference room...it was stolen by a staff member. Another colleague had his account double charged, fun...that was pretty much the tale of the weekend. At least I was with an amazing group of people who truly made the weekend a blast. The staff at the hotel, well, we (my colleagues and I) are not rather fans of.
