“Delightful and relaxing!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 December 2010

After attending the Marine Corps Birthday Ball in Anaheim the night before, we headed up to LB to begin a wonderful stay at Dockside Boat and Bed. We stayed on the Crown Jewel: a beautifully restored yacht at the end of the pier. Both decks were comfortable, and had incredible views! We found it fun to wave to the tour boats as they went by, while we sipped cocktails and relaxed. We found the furnishings to be very comfortable - we slept like babies in the Master bed! Breakfast was just right: warm the big muffin, and take your basket topside to enjoy the morning sea air. There is plenty to see and do around the Harbor too - no car needed! Overall, a wonderful stay. We only wish we could have stayed longer!

“I'm Sold!!!”

In October, I surprised my husband with a stay on the Crown Jewel. I consider myself to be a hotel snob and I am very picky. With that being said, the Crown Jewel was a tad outdated but I'm sure their newest yacht (Obla De) would've satisfied my need for fancy modern accoutrements. I chose my yacht because of its location on the pier, the fireplace and large deck. We enjoyed ourselves immensely! Our stay had nothing to do with the "supermarket muffins" (as previously stated) but everything to do with the atmosphere. The reservation process went smoothly and my confirmation provided thorough details on what to expect. There is plenty to do within walking distance of the yachts. Great concept and lots of fun.

“A truly amazing experience”

Its my first time staying the night on a boat and I gotta say that me and my wife loved it all. The whole experience was great. Very relaxing and new for us. We stayed on the luxurious Obla de Obla Da. The bed is a little small but it was alright for us, nice and very cozy. I always get dizzy on boats but I didn't on this one. It had three T.V.'s (room, kitchen, and living room. YES it has a little living room!)
We had to pay for parking. It was $12 bucks for the night. We got there like around noon, parked, and since everything is in a walking distance, we didn't have to move the car until it was time to leave the next day at around 6pm. (check out was at 11am but we stayed walking around the area)
It is also located very central around the Shore Line of Long Beach and the Queen Mary. There are many nice restaurants and shops. You won't get bored.
What else can I say? It was really cool!! We will definitely go back. One day. Hopefully!

“BUYER BEWARE”

True....the view is lovely...the boats are clean and well maintained...BUT...the air conditioning may or may not work, the toilets are cramped and may not work....it is very noisy because tourist cruises go by every 7 min or so from 8am to 10pm with bullhorns and loudspeakers...holding 100 passengers or so. There is no television except on one boat, so you have to watch old scratchy dvd's that are pretty outdated...only a dozen or so. The "continental breakfast basket" is nonsense. For two people you receive: two cold supermarket muffins, 6oz of yogurt to share, one stale bagel, a apple, a orange and 8oz of orange juice. It will finally arrive about 9am.....after you have been up for at least an hour and a half drinking coffee. We were starving by the second morning and just blew off the basket in search of food somewhere on the pier.

"You can please most of the people most of the time, but not all of the people all of the time ! " We believe in prepping our guests for their stay as much as possible. On our website, in the confirmation email AND at check in, guests are told there is no cable TV on most of our yachts, what our continental breakfast consists of (we promise no stale or soggy pastries, but it is never touted to be gourmet !) and what time it is served. If during those three occassions a guest chooses to ignore the information, there is nothing left to be said. Yes, we are in a busy and active marina, but there are no bullhorns !! That said; we appreciate this guest's comments, as we believe in the integrity and honesty of this site and are always striving to improve our product.

“Amazing, Best Hotel Room You Would Ever Want”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 September 2010

We stayed on the 'Obla De Obla Da' for 3 days at the end of our Roadtrip around California.

Quite simply it was a great experience and a fantastic way to end our trip. The boat was incredible, comfortable, luxurious and ideally located in the middle of all the action at Long Beach.

It had everything you could want, Air Con, Satellite TV & Sirius Radio, Fridge, Freezer, Microwave/Grill, 3 TV's, DVD's, All Cutlery & Glassware etc.

Bathroom facilities were better than i expected, havent stayed on a boat before but imagined tiny showers with no pressure and chemical toilet, what we got was a spacious shower, i am 6ft tall and had no problem getting the shower head above me with plenty of room to wash, and not a whiff of chemicals anywhere!

There were only a few negatives of note, Parking is not ideal, although they advertise this on their site it is worth mentioning.

The nearest restaurant, "Gladstones" has a split personality and decided it was going to be a Nightclub on the Saturday night we were staying, they had a full Speaker setup out on there patio, which was about 30ft from the boats, this was going at Nightclub type sound levels till 3am Sunday morning, which made things difficult to sleep, but i guess thats just a normal saturday night in Long Beach.

The only other thing was the carpet covers were stained here and there.

None of these detracted from our overall experience and if/when we head back to LA, this is where we will be staying!
