We spent Christmas 2005, in Livermore, CA. The MOTEL6 in Livermore was the only hotel/motel in the immediate area that allowed pets. There was no extra fee charged for pets. Price of our room, queen bed, was $49.00. It is a 2-storey, relatively modern building in a newly developed area, with some fast food restaurants within walking distance. Parking spaces are plentiful. The grounds are pleasantly landscaped. The parking lot is clean. The motel is located near the freeway. Traffic noise from the nearby freeway may be an issue for very light sleepers and those suffering from insomnia. We could see the freeway from our room but did not notice the freeway noise when we were inside with the door and windows closed. The ceiling was not insulated well enough to block out plumbing noises from the room immediately above ours. Anytime someone flushed the toilet or turned on the shower or taps upstairs, we could hear the water as if someone in our room was taking a shower or flushing the toilet. We did not hear plumbing noises from the rooms on either side of ours on the same level. Once in awhile, we did hear the alarm barks of other dogs, but that is to be expected in a pet friendly accommodation, and it did not bother us. The occasional sound of a dog nearby alerting us to human movement outside was comforting. The beds were reasonably comfortable. Everything in the room was very clean. The room smelled very clean but not antiseptic-y or perfume-y. There were no traces of pet odors. A noticeably thoughtful touch was the hanger bar for the shower curtain which extends outwards from the tub line in a curve to allow for the larger girth of overweight/obese guests. Our ground level room allowed us easy accessibility to our car and the grounds. Although there was continual heavy winter rain during our stay, the room did not feel or smell damp. There was no smell of mold. Complimentary coffee was available at 7:00 AM in the reception office. Check In and Check Out was very efficient. Staff personnel for every shift was consistently efficient, helpful, polite, and cheerful. Overall: a relatively comfortable, basic accommodation for the budget-conscious traveler with pets. We would definitely stay there again.
