“Dinner is a must.”

We didn't stay at the inn (although we plan to soon), but if you are in the area Saturday-Monday make sure to reserve a seat for one of the best meals between Ft. Bragg and Sea Ranch. They only seat 10-12 people so reservtions are a must. Small, perfectly prepared courses with wonderful wines. If you enjoy, and appreciate, a special dining experience you will be talking about your evening for weeks to come.

“We will come back again and again!”

I stumbled upon Glendeven thru Tripadvisor, and am so very glad we found such a lovely, beautifully run b&b. We have already planned a return visit .... this is the kind of place we will return to year after year. Innkeeper John D. and staff are fabulous, the rooms and grounds are a simple and wonderful respite, a perfect getaway on the North Coast. We really never wanted to leave the inn, but for a walk to the ocean bluff, perfectly content to relax in front of the fireplace enjoying the view, a good book, and some great wine. The accomodations are attractive and very comfortable, the breakfasts delicious and perfectly on time, and the staff attentive and friendly. It seems all the rooms offer great views, and we were especially impressed with how well the inn is run ........ beautifully thought out in every way, including the Wine Barn for an evening sip, feed for the chickens, freedom to visit the llamas, late night cookies, and prepared wood burning fires. We really feel we have found a special place with Glendeven, and hope to return each year. Hats off to the innkeepers, a superb job!

Room Tip: We prefer the views and fireplaces in the BriarRose and BayView, but I don't think there is a b...

“Paradise found”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

My husband and I have stayed at all the best, most romantic and well-appointed B&B's up and down the west coast. We stayed at Glendeven once many years ago and found it so-so and so moved on to try other places. Hearing the historic inn had new owners, we decided to give Glendeven another try and are so glad we did. Our room was beautiful, the bed fluffy and inviting, the breakfast perfect, the views breathtaking. We fed the chickens, stood in the coop and listened to their soft clucking and couldn't get enough! At sunset John, the owner, encouraged us to join him in feeding the llamas and what an otherworldly thing it is to stand in a llama pen, petting one of these soft, huge animals, the pacific ocean rolling and misting in the background. For hardworking folks with stressful demanding lives, we cannot recommend a more relaxing stay than a few nights at Glendeven. Thank you Nan and John!

Room Tip: Excellent website makes selecting the right room easy.

“My favorite Inn in Mendocino”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 January 2012

Just stayed there for 3 nights and 4 days and just loved my experience. I can't wait to plan another trip and stay at the Glendeven.

I've been to Mendocino 4 times in last year, and by far, this has been my favorite experience.

I was traveling by myself and stayed in the Garden Room, which was super cozy and nicely decorated. Also, no musty smell that some of the places in Mendocino have (being so close to the water). The bed was the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in--I bought a pair of the sheets they use home with me.

The owner, John, Cynthia, and all of the staff were very warm and helpful. They had fun suggestions for me for activities in Mendocino and fabulous suggestions for walks and hikes (there are two lovely trails near the inn that go out to the beach and coast).

What else can I say? Very special place, relaxing, beautiful. Would definitely recommend to anyone and great place for single travelers.

Room Tip: The garden room was really cozy even though it didn't have a fireplace or view. Great for a sin...

“Best Romantic Birthday Getaway at The Seaside Cottage!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 January 2012

My boyfriend and I stayed at the Seaside Cottage for our Birthdays, which are just a week apart. Every aspect of the cottage was beyond our expectations! The kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed to cook two romantic meals. The sound system was simple yet allowed us to listen to our iPod as loud as we wished. The isolation a privacy was very relaxing. The complimentary bottle of champagne was perfect for hot tubbing under the stars. The staff at the inn were very accommodating and we were treated to four complimentary glasses of wine and a delicious salad. This was our first time at a cottage or B&B and we will definitely be back to stay at the seaside cottage again and again!
