Yes, this is a great location, easy to find. Cathy at the front desk was friendly and provided a nice entree to the experience. The grounds are lovely and across the street there is a small village-like shopping/ eating area with a brew pup and a few small ethnic restaurants. (The Thai place is great.) The hotel has a large lobby / public area which provides a welcoming space to work or visit, with private and open tables. Comfy rooms, and mine had a balcony overlooking the pool and courtyard. Overall, well above average and would definitely stay here again.

The rooms here are quite ordinary but this is made up for by a stylish and cosy lobby and restaurant. The hotel is conveniently placed near the ferry to San Francisco, in a quiet location with lots of trees around, setting it apart from the other roadside motels and hotels in the area. Staff is friendly and helpful and the place is clean and quiet. As the ferry is cheap it can actually be a good alternative to staying in downtown San Francisco. If you stay longer (a week I think, or 5 days) you can have cheaper rates through the Marriot homepage.

This hotel is rated higher than it deserves for one reason alone: location -- but in the case of visiting San Francisco that's a huge reason to stay here.

First, the old Courtyard motto of "The Best Surprise Is No Surprise" is alive here and thankfully so. The grounds are nicely landscaped. The rooms are basically clean although it could have been better. Our air conditioning unit was not working well and thus the manager moved us to a two-room suite. The front desk clerks varied from helpful to a "We're doing you a favor by being here" personalities. It's not a bad or frightening place to stay and that's the best reason to stay here.

Especially if you don't know San Francisco very well where you stay can be huge. Some hotels say they're in Union Square when they really are in or border The Tenderloin. Fisherman's Wharf is a bit better in terms of safety but the hotels can be kind of run down and way overpriced.

And then there's this place. A safe neighborhood. A decent hotel directly across the street from the high speed commuter ferry into downtown San Francisco. A pleasant oasis of sorts with dining, shopping (and the Golden Gate bridge) nearby. Also not far from Point Reyes National Seashore.

Unfortunately the folks who own this hotel woke up to it attributes and the room rates shot up accordingly. With the downtown ferry across the street and the airport bus next door you don't even need a car to stay here.

All in all, even though pricey, it's the best "bang for the buck" if you're going to San Francisco and your safety and comfort are worth staying here,

We stayed a few nights at this fairly well reviewed Larkspur Courtyard on our way to Hawaii for a two week vacation. Larkspur is a nice town in Mill Valley and an easy drive into San Francisco. As everyone has noted, there's a ferry a few blocks away that takes you to the SF Ferry Terminal - perfect for spending the morning at the Ferry Building's Farmers Market. The ferry not inexpensive so we drove our rental instead and parked easily in the nearby lot. As for this Courtyard, it's really just okay. Our checkin was quick and easy with a friendly front desk reception but no one else we encountered at the front desk was friendly - they were at best tolerant. The housekeeping was fine and the room was clean - I am paranoid about germs and vermin and I did not feel threatened by either. I did notice as other reviewers mentioned that the shopping area across from the hotel is almost totally vacant - which is misleading because the ample parking is filled with hundreds of cars (we realized they were parked from the overflow parking at the ferry) .... there's a good frozen yogurt place and an busy Starbucks, not much else. A restaurant noted for artisan beers was not well reviewed on Yelp or TripaAvisor so we did not try it.
