“what happened to their great buffet?”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 February 2012

We visited the casino for the buffet and then some gambling. We've always enjoyed our meals at the buffet, having been going there for years. howevder, this last visit was the worst EVER. i mainly go for their mashed potatoes. Always so creamy and tasty. Not this visit. They were lumpy, and tasted so bland and dry, they weren't edible. I also got the sliced turkey at the carving station. The lady gave me a 'lump' of turkey with all of the skin on one side, and a small remnant of turkey on the other.

My onion rings were lukewarm, as was everything we had there. I tried the fish with lemon sauce, and it was horrible. So dry, cold, and very bland. would have tried to catfish nuggets, but they looked as though they were overcooked, and dry, so i bypassed that. Tried the Caesar Salad. The cucumbers that came with it were 'disintegrating' in the middle, like they used old cucumbers. I will say our final choice of the meal, the ice cream, was a great one. It was creamy and great tasting.

I filled out a comment card, and asked the cashier if the manager was available. She said that he was interviewing, but she'd give him the comment card and have him contact me. That was 4 days ago. In the meantime i just sent a snail mail letter.

i would like to say that the casino itself was wonderful. Clean, the employees polite, we love going there, and will continue to go back. However, i'll pass on the buffet.

Room Tip: eat next to the buffet in the food court.

“A great place to just chill and spend some time”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 December 2011

We visited with minor childern. All of the Staff were very friendly and we were able to find activities for the younger members of our family to enjoy. I would not rate the accomidations as 5 star however they were clean and very acceptable and a good value for the price. Their Menu choices are good with something that appeals to every age group. We felt that food was not over priced and no one in our group had a bad meal. Overall Barona is a Good place that all age groups can enjoy their visit and good place to just relax and spend some low key time.

“World class? On what planet?”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 December 2011

Ok I wasn't expecting the Wynn or Venetian, but neither was I prepared for barely updated, 1980's style decor in the rooms and Holiday Inn level furnishings. Certainly clean and tidy but not worth writing home about. I convinced my fellow travelers to head back to SD after one night. Also, the casino is DRY?! Who ever heard of a casino that doesn't serve alcohol? That has to violate every rule in the playbook of 'extracting higher margins out of gamblers'. Golf course was okay, but not a top 50 public course (it got that rating in some magazine). The food options are good on site (Vietnamese sandwiches to dry aged steaks); then again, you're 20 miles from anything else so they had better be. Not terrible, but certainly not 'world class' as other reviews would have you believe...

“Having stayed at Barona Resort and Casino”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 December 2011

Recently I had the pleasure of staying at the Barona Resort & Casino while I was enjoying a 4 day golf school given by Southern California Golf Schools. I couldnt have been more pleased. The resort, the golf course and casino staff were great, the food and the room was delightful as well. I would highly recommend both the resort as well as the golf school.
Thanks guys for everything.
Stan

My daughter and son-in-law just returned from our third stay and have adopted it as our favorite casino. It is so beautiful, nice clean rooms and friendly. Had a wonderful three days!
