Yes it's funky, yes it's old, a bit shabby, but that's what I like about it - man, look at the price! Nothing else in Laguna is that cheap. Having spent a lifetime of summers in Laguna, this place is a gem and very reminiscent of the "old days" of beachy houses. Don't forget that you have parking and that you are only a 1/2 block away from one of the most beautiful beaches on the planet.

The pictures in their website creates an ullusion, that the place is much nicer and the view better. So many things wrong with the place. First, upon our arrival the maid was still cleaning the room. While cleaning, she told me that people use the bath towels to wipe the floors with, and when I mention there was a black marks on one of the pillow cases she explained that the owner is very cheap and everything has stains on it, but it's cleaned. And she said if you really want to I can bring another pillow case to you. When she brought the new pillows one of them was very lumpy so I asked if I could exchange the pillows with the two new ones that didn't have any cover on them. She went on explaining it's the same exact one, well beside the fact that they were not they were also much older like about 10years older. It would have been ok had this ended there. The ocean view was not an ocean view it was blocked by the cables and trees. The patio is not a private patio it's actually a pathway that's how you get in and out of the room. And the noise from the road is very loud. The fan above the head doesn't turn off. There are no clocks or phones in the room so if you need anything you have to go down the stairs to the office. No elevators either, which is expected from an inn or motel. Now there are renters who have been living there for years, next door to us was an old man who had been there for two years, he was smoking the entire time and drinking. We could hear him talk to himself inside our room with the door shut. Yes very thin walls. When he started to walk up and down the pathway behind our door that's when both my husband and I decided this was enough and left. We spent less than an hour in the room. The guy at the front desk told my husband that the old guy had lost his father recently but there are reviews on this from a year ago. If your on a budget and are not going to be in the room at all, then this could be an option, but if your on a romantic getaway not a good option.

Just stayed last weekend (July 17th) and was underwhelmed for sure. I only paid $129 for a "ocean view" room, so I guess I shouldn't be surprised. The overall room condition was okay, bed was comfortable and they had a flat panel TV. However, we could only see part of the ocean (there are trees and power lines about 3 feet from the balcony), a screen was off a window and leaning against the wall, no coffee, one of the lamps didn't work, the bathroom window was nearly off it's track and the screen hadn't been clean and when we asked for a late check-out (noon), we arrived at 11:15am to a housekeeper who didn't speak English and proceeded to stay in the room cleaning until we sorta locked her out when she went out to grab more stuff so we could shower and pack.

Overall, I guess it was the service you would expect from an "Inn" or motel.

staff was very helpful and made are stay very nice and would love to come back and stay with the crescent bay in we stayed in the middle bulidng very nice redone rooms hardwood floor fairly new beds what i want in a room is a comfy bed and it to be clean and hot water and at the Crescent Bay inn in laguna beach I got all of that and a great rate i am for sure coming back
