We stayed at The Tides over Christmas and it is a very nice small motel. We were in walking distance of the beach, downtown and shopping. The manager was very friendly and most helpful with checking in and checking out. This is an older motel that is clean and small, I would guess about two dozen rooms, they still isssue a hard key and I felt like I was checking into a Holiday Inn from 1965, but with nicer sheets. Our room was clean, but the bathroom was a little small, we had a corner shower and not very many outlets which made it tough to get all of our iphones and ipads charged for the night. The pool looks very nice with a full fireplace and sitting area near it.

I'm a bit reluctant to make this review, because everyone will want to stay here. Kudos to Dale & Linda (owners) and Judy & Joe (managers) for The Tides. With each room uniquely decorated emanating understated elegance, this gem of an inn is subtly exquisite, oh-so comfortable, and none could be more welcoming and hospitable! This IS the place to stop and take in all the wonderful sensations of the nearby Pacific Ocean and simply enjoy your days and nights in Laguna Beach. My girl and I went to Laguna beach to celebrate her Birthday and it was Wonderful because of the great place we stayed. "The Tides" was not like any hotel.....it was more like Home.
The room has hardwood floors and nicely decorated and I've never slept better than on the soft cushy bed in our room. We were only a block from the beach and downtown was only a short walk. Now, I have to say how amazingly we were treated by Joe and Judy, the managers. They were warm and friendly and went out of their way to help....Great folks!
Ant time I ever visit Laguna Beach, I will definitely stay at "The Tides.

In 34 years of marriage we have never been treated so nice by motel/hotel magagers. Joe and his wife were just best. The room, bedding and bathroom were very clean. We intended to stay just one night but were having so much fun being by ourselves finally that we stayed over a second night. Great value and perfect location. Everything you need is just a short walk. Beaches, dining, shopping. We will be returing for sure. You won't be disappointed.
